sorry, this is probably in a thread already but I cant find it, is the speepd of the game slowed down in BtS towards the end to facilitate the use of all the new units?

yes, the speed is slowed down. There are 500 turns in Normal speed now.

But is it confirmed that this slowdown is weighted toward the late game?

There are screenshots that show 2 turns per year in the late game.

@Willowmound...
If you mean "Are those screenshots from a scenario?", then no, they are from the standard game screenshots on Gamespot here (http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2007/172/reviews/938800_20070622_screen001.jpg) and here (http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2007/172/reviews/938800_20070622_screen003.jpg)

Given that the two are turns 446/447 in 2023AD it ties in with a 500 turn standard game since at two turns per year 2050AD would be turn 500.

2023=446/447
2024=448/449
2025=450/451
...
2049=498/499
2050=500

Hmm...
400 turns for the first 6000 years
100 turns for the last 50 years (approx)

yup...I'd say that qualifies as slowing the game down towards the end!

I get the impression form some of ye high end players ye always have the game won well, well before the end anyhow, is this correct?
