Greetings all,

I decided to participate in one of the recent Gauntlets and may continue to do so in further gauntlets.
Usually I play on Monarch level with the casual emperor thrown in, so not all gauntlets should appeal to me. But I like the current culture gauntlets :)

I am sure that I will generate some HoF related questions over time and may post them here or in the respective question threads if I feel it may be a question of general interest.

Two questions directly come mind:
1. When using the regenerate map button (or the shortcut) is it actually allowed to move your warrior and settler before that, maybe even found your first city to get a better knowledge of the surroundings and regenerate if the terrain doesn't suit you?
Doesn't seem like a case of reloading, but seems related in a way so I was a bit cautious.

2. Since sea-level is not pointed out in the rules I assume it's legit to have it at low or high.

In answer to your two questions:
1. A regenerated map is a new map, so what you do before you regenerate doesn't matter. Just don't forget to save the 4000BC file as regenerate doesn't create one. ;) Now, what is not legal is to move or settle to see if you like it and then go back and reload from before that point.

2. Sea-level is at the player's discretion. Settings not mentioned in the rules are generally optional. But it is always nice to be asked. :mischief:

Thanks for the quick and helpful answers.
For further understanding of 1.:
Is it then allowed to play a map for some time and then load the initial 4000BC autosave to start over with a new game by regenerating this map (which would just be a handy feature not to go through the game customisation phase again).

I never thought of that trick...That would save time and angst.

Yes, I use it all the time ever since I understood that it was allowed. Saves all that re-entering opponents over and over ...
