I think you have to be 18 to join if you think you'll win the prizes, which involves voyages abroad. They probably can't give that to minors.
Anyway, people of any age can join, I mean, who gives his complete data? ;)
And people who don't know a bit about football can join as well, luck often works great in such competitions.

Yeah I noticed that but forgot to post it...The interesting thing though is with my Yahoo account I said I was 17 and tehn in the competition entry I said I was over 18 so it could be quite interesting...

Two world cup competitions unless a CFC member makes one themselves.

I would like to run a league competition for next years football season. We need to decide which national league we would want to base it on. I would like to see us join a competition where we can run a mini league based on the English league. Obviously we will need to find a suitable site.

I of course would like to see the Dutch :p But since almost no one has knowledge of ours, and a lot have knowledge of the Premiership, I agree we should do that...although an Englishman would probably win. What about Championsleague?

We can only do it per round, because the second phase etc. is drawn (right?). First all qualifications have to be played of course... Who has experience in setting up these kind of things?

Not me...I am hoping someone else will step forward otherwsie we could just join a main stream competition, but then we need to find a good site. If no one has experience then we could work together to make it happen.

Response to Hitro: That would work but it would be nice to have a proper site to show whos the best. Also it should reduce the risk of poor scoring ;)

Does it have to be eletronic? Doing it the "traditional" way shouldn't be too hard for the number of people here.

(Explanation: The traditional way involves one or two people collecting player's bets, calculating the points and then produce a ranking which could be posted here or on some other site. This would be done every round of course)

I don't think that would be to hard. Just put together an excel file that everyone can fill in.

I could do an excel spreadsheet at some point. I will try to make most of it automatic by using loads of If, then, else formulas...

So the thing starts on the the 30th? well it seems like we have a huge league.

soccer fact: Ethan Zohn won survivor africa. he is jewish, and plays in the U.S. proffesional soccer league. he also played at the maccabi games in Israel.

Are you sure recruiting our friends is a good idea? It would no longer be a CFC league then.

I don't mind if we have extra people, since they will still have some sort of connection with CFC. Also it reduces my chances of finishing last :) Would anyone else here want a sport forum where we could move these competition threads too? If you do then PM TF!

1. You have to follow this link (http://games.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/). There you have to register (under "I'm a new user") if you shouldn't already have an account at Yahoo.
Registering should be self explanatory.

2. After registering (or if you already were registered) you have to sign up for the game ("Sign up now" in the main frame).
You have to invent a name for your team and then it should be done.

3. Now you should be in the game. To participate in our league you have to click on "Join a Private Group". The site will ask for the group id and a password.
Group id is: 18476
Password is: civ3

That should be it, of course you have to make your picks. And it has to be finished by tomorrow morning (in European terms).

:lol::lol::lol: No way! Belgium is kicked out in quarter-final, if not earlier. Germany will fail to reach the semi-finals because they get kicked by Italy in the quarter-final. And yes, 8-0 is great, and yes Germnay is the realest for now :D, but c'mon....Saudi Arabia? :lol: You can't expect them to beat Argentina, Italy, Portugal or some other great country just because of this match.

Anyway its annoying that the Yahoo competition is only undated at the end of the group stages. Well thats what lloks like will happen :(

I think that instead of giving points for individual games, you can only gain points for the correct finishing position in each group which is annoying because we will not know the leaders out of our league for a long time.

Well I am still interested in them, but its getting annoying that the results just don't seem to be updated. Half of us still have no points according to the leagues...:mad:

I'm confused, were we meant to gave our predictions for the whole competition when we signed up, or is it just the gruop stage at first followed by the knock-out phase? Cos I only did the group phase, thinking that was the idea. I may have screwed up royally.

You could only fill in the group stages at the start. If you go to the site now you can make the rest of your predicitions although I am waiting for some more results from the group stages first. Also we will only know how well we have done in the group stages when they are over :(
