I think I found a bug. Was the Public Schools building supposed to be made into a National Wonder? Because the entry for iMaxPlayerInstances is still set to -1.

rockinroger
Jul 14, 2007, 03:42 AM
Crap that was supposed to be changed back to 0. For those who are interested go to Civ4BuildingClassInfos.xml and change it to <iMaxPlayerInstances>0</iMaxPlayerInstances> for Public School. Good catch Sinapus.

Er, shouldn't the iMaxPlayerInstances flag be set to "1" instead of "0" like the other National Wonder entries are?

Sinapus, read Firehawk's admittedly convoluted sentence, you will see that
the Public Schools are NOT a National Wonder. At this instant.

Thanks for being so understanding.

Yes, and I'm one of the crack programmers involved in early development.
I bring my amazing skills in a language foreign to most of the programmers
to bear, cleaning up a couple hundred errors in the early releases.
The language? ENGLISH!!!

Most of the illustrious folks working on ViSa are from countries that don't
speak English well... Belgium, Germany, ... in Firehawk's case, Florida... :p

Well I finally looked at this myself and you are wrong. -1 is right and its not a National Wonder but requires a certain number of Universities in your empire.

Its not a bug....sorry everybody else....

Not sure wether this is a well known bug /haven`t found anything through the search function) or wether it already has been corrected in V3.20 (as I`m still playing V3.10) but the AI doesn`t seem to know that it can use sea engineers to improve water tiles of water cities. As you can see on the screenshot the AI put 26 worker in the sea city, I guess its trying to improve the water tiles with those.

Still haven't played the new version, but impressed by the number of fixes and changes. Good work!

A couple of notes.

As far as I remember, Migrant mod didn't work in v3.1. I was sure that it would be fixed in v.3.2, but comparing old and new files showed that they was identical (I haven't played v.3.2 yet).

Also the bug when the Drill Sergeant trains a unit unlimitedly seems not fixed too.

Both are fixed in my FairStart mod so I can report these bugs if they are still not reported.

As already noted, we did just XML and graphics stuff....no coding in this version as all of our coders are off being busy.

Mod keeps crashing every time i try and save? dam i really liked that u had amars mod and your mod togeather.

It says like memory allocation error and then closes the game?
I have windows vista 32 bit.
When i check the save files they are like 2kb only? So it must be something to do with saving? any tips/suggestions?

I have tried saving to the desktop, to my folder...tried running the program as administrator nothing works...the files are still saving as 2 kb when normal saves are like 300kb?

help ^_^ ?

Its just the MAF problem....you have less than 2GB RAM?

Even on XP that map causes MAF.....at late game. On Vista you can get MAF before 0AD

Thank goodness Firaxis fixed this MAF (not all however) in BTS.

I have 2 GB RAM but i think its that map on vista just does not work. Ill try a few other maps you posted hopefully they will work xD

Oh i wanted to add in some other civs instead of some civs you have on the 19 player and 18 player map (that will hopefully work) how do i go about that.
Civs i want to enter are Arabia and USA instead of some of the weird old ones there ^^

I have played oblivion at full graphics on my computer, oblivion at full graphics eats other computers, i don't know how civ. stops due to my computer setup..i dont think its that. My computer is top spec, Vista takes max 3GB of RAM..i have 2 GB RAM. 9/10 other mods don't crash my game when attempting to save on civ. This is 1st time i am experiencing this issue.

All I can tell you is that it was a big enough problem that Firaxis implemented a fix for BTS....and those other 9 out of 10 mods are nowhere near the size and scope of ViSa :p

And not sure what Oblivion has to do with anything.....there is a memory problem in the save routine in the Civ.exe....

great new version - lots of shiny new graphics :)

i just read that you concentrated on graphics and xml for this release, so i guess it comes as no surprise when i re-report 2 old bugs:
- mastery victory still requires you to play to the end of game(time), even after eliminating everyone else
- CTD on 3rd reload (just asking: is anyone looking into this? any ideas, hat might be responsible?)

otherwise: excellent work, much appreciated :)

I don't figure any of those will ever be fixed in ViSa.....WoC should take care of them.

I thought I read this somewhere, but I cannot find it now. I wish civfanatics had its own forum search instead of relying on Google.

Anyway, is my workboat supposed to be able to sail over ice? I thought I remember reading about ice breakers somewhere (except the ice isn't 'broken'). If you did want to implement ice breaker ships, it should be at a later time period. From turn 1 I was able to sail into ice and my work boat circumnavigated by ice.

rockinroger
Jul 31, 2007, 08:01 PM
Work boats do sail over ice, because originally we were going to have the work boats break ice also. We changed it back to just the sea engineer that breaks the ice.. I did not change the work boat to not be able to sail on ice.

me and a buddy of mine started up a direct ip connection and were playing with us 2 and 6 other civs. well i was attacking saladin and i took a couple of cities and was in his territory marching towards his capital and then i spun my turn and at the beginnning of the next turn i hear the foghorn for peace. and i have now somehow automatically made piece with him and all of my troops are sent back to my nearest city. i was like wtf. only thing i could think of is that he used a great statesman to stop the war. i was like ok. so i waited a few turns and regrouped and went back in and declared war. i was once again a couple of tiles away from his capital and the same thing happened again. i was annoyed now since me and my buddy were in a heated battle for supremacy. well anyway it happened a 3rd time a few turns later. i thought to myself this has to be a glitch. so i said fug it and went after ceaser. ceaser did the same thing to me, but it only happened once with him, then i commenced to a little ass kicking. anyone have an idea what the deal is?

thanks in advance,

also we have been playing and we would save a game, then load it up the next day and we would get an oos error. now i have scoured the site here and found some stuff on the oos error and realized there seems to be no fix for it. i was just wondering if there has been any kind of update to this as to a possible solution.

thanks,

Probably Great Statesman, in late game you can pop those every 5-6 turns and can stockpile them.

At the same time, 3 times in a row sounds like a bug....we will have to watch this in WoC because no further patches will be released for ViSa.

OOS is a real pain that never will get fixed, sorry.

i greatly appreciate your response. thanks for the heads up with the making peace scenario.

as far as the oos error. can you point me in the right direction as to where i might start to look into getting a fix for it. i have already typed it into google and didnt come up with too much except for other games experiencing the same thing. is it just a bug in visa or modpacks? because i dont think we have ever gotten one just playing regular warlords.

thanks,

the only thing i wish for is to keep the game steady with out crashes i would be happy if you could at least finish the game all the way to future even if you do get some CTD it would be worth the suffering but if it does Not let you pass and you get stuck in the game with the same crap over and over again.
Exsample i been playing Rise of Man kind for weeks Now I finally stop playing i played about 20 games over and Over and i always got the same crap when i got to Industrial Age game keeps crashing i save reload everything posible but no luck I just rather play something that will at least let me finish the game.

I just discovered Civil Service, and when the popup prompt to change Civics to Private H.C. appears, it tells me I can get +4 Health per city with this civic. This isn't true - it's +2 Health per city as correctly reported in the civilopedia entry and in the civics screen itself.

Yeah minor bug in the text....many things were tweaked for balance and obviously we missed updating the text in some.

But ViSa will see no more updates....but thanks for the report as we don't want the same mistakes showing up in the WoC :)

OK, here's another odd one. I've been at war with Basil II of the Byzantines for a while, mostly a cold one. Recently though they moved a small stack next to my borders. So I smote them. WHen there was but one damaged army left as well as a Settler, I took them on with a Hypaspist, expecting a free worker or two.

So I killed the last army, and occupied the space. But the Settler is still there, and still belongs to Basil. WTF?

Here's the screenshot. Sorry if the attached image is too big. My resolution is 1680x1050, I don't want to resize because it might make it harder to read, and I think you need to see the troop info on the left, and the fact that I'm still at war with Basil on the left.

Couple of further issues - small ones, but may as well..

The National Travel Agency Civilopedia write-up mentions Constructors and Holiday Villages, which should actually be Sea Constructors and Holiday Resorts. As I said, nothing much, but since this was my first ViSa game the difference confused me enough to spend a few minutes of fruitless searching the 'pedia.

Just had my first CTD with cIV ever. The autosave won't load either - day-am! There's the proof - this mod is HUGE.

So in the version of WoC you have to date you've fixed some bugs still in BtS v3.13, do you mean?

And reloading every CTD gives me a few more turns of play at a time, but it's getting frustrating. I might need to start with a smaller map (went for large) or shorter time (went-for-the-slightly-longer-than-normal number of turns).

We just put in Bhruic's patch v1.11 and mrgenie has fixed other Firaxian bugs as well....so the WoC is more stable than BtS itself :)

I am guessing the CTD you are getting is from the MAF and a smaller map will help.

I've been playing a marathon game on a huge world with 11 AI opponents. I get to the year 1416 and the game crashes during the "waiting for other civilizations". I have never gotten this far before and don't want to lose this game but I can't go any further. I back-up and replay several turns and it still crashes after the 1416 year. I have loaded another VISA game that have hasn't reached that year but has a larger save game file, and it doesn't crash.

Has anybody had this happen or can you give me some thoughts?

Can you post a save game. The one before the crash and the one of the crash. Its sounding like a art issue. Perhaps there is a war going on and some unit is causing this. I can load the save game and deltete half the civs to find out if thats it. If not then deltete the next half, until find a group that causes it. then do the same to the group causing it. until find the civ, thats having the issue. Thanks.

Yes it is Warlords for me also with the current update applied. All of my other VISA Warload games do not appear to have a problem as since posting originally I have went back to play them past the crash year of 1416. Also I have started a new game and while at only the mid 400 ADs there is no problem.

The following problem came up: I disabled ranged bombardement in the starting settings. Now i am unable to bombard city defenses as well, wich makes capturing cities a little hard (pressing "B" doesn`t help either).
The AI can bombard my defenses though.

Any Idea what I did wrong?

Where and how did you change the ranged bombardment?

In the game setup-screen.
I left the box for ranged bombardement unchecked, thatīs all I did.
And thanks a lot for the fast reply.

I've just noticed that all the people in the game are real tiny! When you look at a city, you can't see the troops that are supposed to be there. Everything else is the right size.
