Sorry for not posting a discussion thread first but elections are bearing down on us and we need a decision before the regular elections are held!

Right now, Tlaxcala is not in a defined province.

Should it be added to province #6 with Heliopolis and Alexandria?

OR

Should it be in a newly defined province #10?

Feel free to post discussion here. I will leave the poll open for 3 days in the hope that our choice is made before the election.

The provincial border maps are here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=22326)

Edit: Changed link to the proper provincial borders thread per Cyc's post.

Hey Donsig. Just trying to help here. the Province Maps are actually here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=22326) . I'll look at drawing up an additional Province.

I'm torn. On one hand, I'd like to see another governor get an office. On the other, there's little chance these provinces will get any bigger or better in the near future. It might be difficult to even find someone willing to govern a province of 1 city that's totally corrupt. For now I think it's best to bubble out Province 6 to include Tlaxcala.

Actually, the tip of this peninsula around Province #6 works out to be one full Province. The Northern border extends past Province#6 a bit but does nicely on the East-West route. I can re-do this later when I have more time and clean it up.
EDIT: This map was replaced, the one below should be put before the cabinet for approval.

How about if #6 grabs Tlaxcala and Heraclea and #10 extends northeast to grab Grand River?

I'd say keep the Province borders for Province #10 and let the Deputy Domestic Leader govern it.

We'd need a Constitution change. Instead of an election for each Province with 1 or more cities, that could change to an election for each Province with 3 or more cities. If a Province grows to 3 cities between elections, there's a spot election and any Prov with 3 is part of the regular elections. Frontier Provinces with only 1 or 2 cities would be governed by the Domestic Deputy.

Thoughts?

That's not a bad suggestion, Shaitan. Keep in mind that Province #6 is already maxed out on land tiles and that would add an additional 34 land tiles. 'Course we could slice off the NE portion of Province #6 and put it on Province #10.

We need more feedback.

I could go for either of those options. The second (redistricting) would seem to be easier but the first (Constitution change) would be more permanent. Since we're already on this track to extend #6, I suggest we continue with that option along with Cyc's suggestion to give some of #6's territory to #10. (Cyc, could you do a map of this?) We'll also pursue the Constitution change to prevent this sort of thing in the future.

Comments?

OK. I've changed the above map to reflect the changes. Province #6 has given up some of its NE tiles and gained some SE tiles, taking in 4 new cities.

I like the new borders for provinces 6 and 10 Cyc.

That looks great to me. Solves the immediate problem nicely, plus the Provinces both look good.

Donsig - it looks like overwhelming support for putting Taxcala in Prov6. I'd say go ahead and repoll for the official Province change. 24 hour citizen poll and a Cabinet Vote to make it official.
