Breaking News - Cologne Compass

We took Cologne, and Germany is probably not willing to give us Compass for 10 turns ceasefire. We should extend the war a little bit more, before the war weariness kicks in and assure we conquer Stuttgart and Essen.

Essen is heavily defended, with iron and a bit away, and we only got 3 catapults ready. We need to take the south first to avoid a long border.

I would like to argue again for vassalage, so we can make better troops that quit dying on us.

This turnchat, we lost 4 catapults and one keshik, good for our infantry, but also means we cannot attack more than 2 cities next TC and still keep our composure.

We also see Roman cavalry around Dortmund (Open border agreement with Germany) and close to Pisae and Cumae. A German-Roman (Axis? Holy Roman?) alliance is imminent.

This is not entirely accurate and has me a little confused (not you, but the game). The turn we took Cologne they were willing to give Compass, WM, and some gold for peace. After I hit "End Turn" and got Banking, now he's willing to give WM, gold, and gpt. Why the change? Did he build more units, learn a tech, or has some other mischeivous plans in the making?

Also note that he has Philosophy available. With any luck we can grab them both.

Notice Roman troops north around Dortmund, they are in Open Borders Agreement. I would ask for the help needed to fight both at once, as I guess they are about to ally.

Maybe the AI is geared that way, to factor in Banking, a peaceful tech.

Umm, someone made a big tactical mistake. Pisae is totally undefended, and it's coastal. The Romans are about to plant a new city between Pisae and Neapolis. AI's tend to go ahead and DOW when you have an undefended city, regardless of strength.

See the instructions, the garrison to go there from Coppertown (Pisae Guard), was never implemented, the very first of all macemen orders.
