http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/1/civ4bts_box_art_final_thumb.jpg (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=1117&c=24)2K Games has released the official Civ4: Beyond the Sword trailer. It has a length of 1:49 and contains a lot of interesting videos, both computer animated and of game play. There is also an excellent voice-over by Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime in the "Transformers" movie.

You can view the trailer here (http://www.games.net/video/trailers/110040/civilization-iv-beyond-the-sword/). Thanks to OSaft for posting it!

EDIT: You can download high quality version of the video in WMV format (22 MB) (http://www.civfanatics.net/downloads/civ4/videos/CivBTS_OfficalLaunchTrailer640x480SD_WMV.zip) from our server.

According to Wikipedia, that would be Peter Cullen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Cullen). Not sure which character is more well-known, but Optimus Prime sounds a little more...impressive...than "There is also an excellent voice-over by...Eeyore."

I like the trailer. Hopefully its quality is indicative of the final release as well.

Lol, nice voice over. Made we want to go destroy something, or buy something, or watch an Arnold Swarzennegger movie, one of those. :mischief:

No problem ;) I haven't posted here in ages, I just couldn't resist this one. I honestly have nothing useful to say so back to lurking :shifty:

It was a good trailer, and there was that nice line about "transforming," which made the vocal choice more entertaining. I'm still waiting for a really clever humor ad like CivAnonymous or Warlords Security Briefings. I'm about out of hope for a similar installment as release is less than a week away.

It was actually pretty good. And the cinematics were a lot better than Warlords.

The trailer has a release date at the end of it. The release date on the trailer shows the 25th?!?!? I thought we were going to get it on the 23rd. :/

I think I saw General Lee there, what does he got to do with this expansion?

I wonder if the music from this trailer is included in bts (e.g. for the opening menu)? In my opinion this sounds way better than the music from the bts-page.

I like the music from both of them. I'm hoping they're both integrated in some way into the game!

Funny how when I first watched the video it had 107 views and now, 13 hours later, it has 2350. That gives a nice indication of how fast news travels on the Internet (and the influence of CivFanatics).

Yeah, that made me want to scream obscenities into a radio while wildly firing a machine gun one handed :crazyeye:

Funny how viral marketing campaigns like this no longer require the company to actually purchase advertising time on TV, eh?

(Naturally, I forwarded the link to six of my friends who have an interest in Beyond the Sword....)

Is it just my imagination, or did I see what looked like a couple space-empire-looking tidbits in there? I don't recall seeing anything like that in the announcements so far. So, lousy memory (easily possible), new scenario, new gameplay style, accidental inclusion of a different game's tidbits, or were my eyes playing tricks on me?

Looks like what you're talking about is the Final Frontier scenario (which has been announced, but not covered in detail yet).

It says it comes out the 25th - did the release get pushed back?

18th? But that's today! What's going on?!

It was released today (18th) in Australia (their 19th). I also believe that in parts of Europe it will be released on Friday. It won't be released until Monday in the US.

I wish *I* had Civ4 friends. Seriously, I need to start a "Berkeley Civ4 Players Club".

The voice over is great. However, it sounds awfully similar to the voice over for every preview I've seen, ex: "This summer ... you thought your cookies were safe ... but you're wrong! ... the cookie ... monster ... is ... here!"
#"..." = dramatic pause(s)

AHH i thought it was being released the 24th for some reason :(. I was sitting here downloading it on steam unable to play...

damnit, if it's been "officially released" in other countries, i dont see why steam won't let me download it until US' release date.
