View Full Version : Any Earth maps *not* for Warlords? Eggs_Zachtly Jul 19, 2007, 11:56 AM I don't have Warlords, only CivIV. Everything I've looked at seems to be geared for the Warlords update. Carter Jul 19, 2007, 12:11 PM Check the downloads database, any not specifically for warlords should work. Eggs_Zachtly Jul 24, 2007, 04:29 PM Well, *that* was a helpful reply. I've already looked, unfortunately, not all are marked as such, and it's not until the file is downloaded that the version is apparent, hence my question. I'd really rather not download a dozen maps to find one that actually works without requiring Warlords. Anyone else? AThousandYoung Jul 24, 2007, 05:11 PM The only one I have is the one packaged with the game. What's wrong with that one? You don't like America starting in 4000 BC? Eggs_Zachtly Jul 24, 2007, 06:23 PM There's no map that even closely resembles "Earth" packaged with the game. Good Sauce Jul 24, 2007, 07:08 PM earth18civs come packaged with the game. If for some odd reason you don't have it you can get it here (http://www.gameflood.com/Mashup/Index.cfm/Civilization-IV-CIVIV-CIV4/Maps-Levels-Missions/Earth-18-civs/Display/intMapID/573). I would also suggest the vanilla version of Rhye's and fall of civilization here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=176754) strategyonly Jul 24, 2007, 07:53 PM All you have to do to any map is this to get a vanilla map: You need to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' under Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options. This should then allow to change 'CIVWARLORDSWBSAVE' to 'WorldBuilderSaveFile' Then just make sure you uncheck it all over again, that way your extensions dont get messed up. strategyonly Jul 24, 2007, 07:54 PM double post?????? Eggs_Zachtly Jul 25, 2007, 05:05 PM Good Sauce: Thanks! I'll check to see if I have that map, and if not, I'll grab it. Also, thanks for the info on "vanilla". I had seen that on a couple of downloads, and wondered if that was what it meant. stragegyonly: I always show file extensions in Explorer. Are you saying that Warlords maps will work with Vanilla, simply by changing the extension? If so, that's GREAT news! I saw a couple maps I was very interested in, but they appeared to be for Warlords only. My only question now, would be which folder to save a Warlords map to, on my version? Sorry if these are lame questions. I've played Civ since version 2, but have never modded or added anything to them. strategyonly Jul 25, 2007, 05:21 PM I always show file extensions in Explorer. You need to put them into(Vanilla only) My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Saves/Worldbuilder Eggs_Zachtly Jul 26, 2007, 04:58 PM Heh. VERY cool, thanks for the info, and for your patience! AThousandYoung Jul 26, 2007, 11:37 PM Try playing a scenario to see the Earth map. |
