Probably a little early to ask this but are there any earth maps for BTS or will ones for previous versions work?

Are there any earth maps that aren't honking huge with one zillion civilizations on it? I'm looking for small or standard size earth maps. It seems all this forum has are those super large maps with 18+ civs, which is ridiculous.

I would also really like a map which is at least barely playable on a normal pc like that of Rhye, with the possibility to choose 18 civs and leaders you want among those available in BtS and with realistic fixed positions and without any modded .dll so you can play that with other mods

Part of what you want can't be done.... if you have set realistic starting points with the corresponding Civ then you won't be able to chose different leaders without having to open up the map in a text editor and change the leader from there.

If you want to be able to choose the Civ AND leader you want then the best anyone can do is have set starting plots in traditional spots but the Civ's occupying any particular one will be random. You could always go with this option then open the map in world builder and move the Civs around to where they should be. Though if you do this then you need to make sure you use the unreveal plots button for each Civ or every civ will still be able to see the original starting plots.

This sounds like exactly what I'm looking for (well, that and a winning lottery ticket). Is this on anybody's to-do list (the map, not the lottery ticket...but if you do have a winning ticket for me, I'll take that, too ) ?

The other thing I wouldn't mind seeing is an Earth map with the New World eliminated altogether, and the Old world enlarged considerably.

Not just one cookie but I'll give you the whole bag for that comment. "Retardiculous" is really an understatement but It'll convey the message just fine. I have to say my computer is no slouch (core 2 duo) with the latest vid card and drivers, 4GB ram, 250+ GB HD free and a lot of those will crash mid game.

It's no fun. Oh yeah, before I go further of course Civ/Warlords/BtS is patched up to the latest also.

Somebody make a "Good" map please. And Bigger isn't always better.

I am waiting for the new patch before working on a BTS version of my RadEarth maps.

For people that are reluctant to do mods or map design... I HIGHLY recommend working on your own map (or taking a map that someone else created and modding it to your liking). Map editors are getting better and after the initial design - most tweaks can be made using notepad (simply typing alterations to individual tiles in notepad).

Working on your own map or modding an existing map is one of the easier ways to get into the modding "business". Just be sure to try and note when you use someone else's idea and as a courtesy - link to thier thread

My RadEarth maps were inspired by a member of this site that has less than 10 posts.

I just posted a new thread on this forum with a link to my Earth 34 civs map. It has all 34 civs on the 18 & 24 civ 124x68 map size. If anyone wants less civs, this can easily be done by editing the worldbuilder file and deleting the ones you don't want.
