The band disappears temporarily when I hit the print screen button, I also notice that are some alpha blending issues with the startup dialog box. My config is as follows:

Core Duo
Vista home premium 64 bit
Graphics cards: 8800 GTS (running in SLI) - drivers: Forceware 158.24 (1st June 2007)
Civ version: BTS 302

Any chance that this is an SLI issue? Can you disable one card and see if the problem still continues? (although if it is SLI, they should still try to fix it!)

You wouldn't happen to be using the video-out from your graphics card instead of monitor out would you?

I've sometimes seen computers do this to the video output (though not the monitor output). I'm not sure why they do it but I think it's something to help prevent illegal recording of movies etc.

It is an SLI issue (with the 8000 series anyway), everything worked fine when I disabled the second card.

Thanks for your help guys.

Well, make sure you continue to try to track this down on your end because it need not be this way. I played a couple of hours in SLi last night with 8800gtx.

Make sure you go into the nvapps.xml file and add a profile for Beyond the Sword (just copy the ones for Warlords or Vanilla and adjust the .exe reference).

Regarding drivers: I'm currently running nvidia forceware v158.22 (XP 64-bit).

Just piping in here to make sure this isn't miscategorized as a global SLI problem. From my experience, it doesn't seem to be a universal thing.

So - did it have black bands until you configured your SLI "properly"?

No. Just worked. But I recently wiped and installed Windows XP 64-bit. So I've got a clean system with all latest drivers.

I played for several hours before I realized I hadn't added an SLi profile (by editing the nvapps.xml file). But it continued to work normally after I added the profile.

It may be the local user config. I have Vista 64 and SLI and I do not get the lines. I did however get something like that for SotS when I have my config set up for "force split frame".
