Period. Horizons Jul 22, 2007, 05:11 PM You will never see Hitler in a Civ game ever. Period. He's due to get patched in at some point in the future, but it will be through an unofficial source (i.e. Dale's website). :) Dale Jul 22, 2007, 05:31 PM Yeah, see sig. *shameless plug for my website* :D p dandy Jul 22, 2007, 05:51 PM He's due to get patched in at some point in the future, but it will be through an unofficial source (i.e. Dale's website). :) Yeah of course and thank god for the modding flexibility Civ has. I'm just thinking from the Firaxis point of view. I don't think they will ever include Hitler. Lacaixa Jul 23, 2007, 12:04 AM Dale ..... I've been playing the RTW 1936 Europe version as Churchill . I went for the open play version and it's been very enjoyable so far with some very interesting twists on history. Germany and the USSR are locked in mortal combat but France suffered at the hands of Italy and Spain and have avoided conflict with Germany. Playing as the UK I'd hoped to keep out of it but then the Low Countries attacked France and I couldn't risk them being totally destroyed so I invaded the Low Countries which brought me into conflict with Germany. I quickly gifted my conquests to De Gaulle before my expeditionary force was wiped out though. I seem to spend all my time protecting France and my extended oil supply lines to the Middle East. In the end I built a Trans-Saharan railway to avoid the Italians. BTW is it possible to get an oil supply to Canada so that I can build tanks/ships there ? On the more negative side, some of the leaderheads are a bit ropey, in particular Mussolini who looks like a kid who's found a fascist dictator outfit. Some of the unit graphics are an odd choice too. In particular using the Fiat biplane with Italian markings as the Hurricane (and every other early fighter) and then a Polish monoplane as the Spitfire. There are some superb WW2 unit graphics available so I can only asume that the commercial nature of the release prevented you from using them. But that is really my only gripe. Now the Adolf Hitler thing . Heir Von Papen is easily the best done of the new leaderheads and has a look of an aging Fuhrer about him . After a while you just don't notice that it's not AH which surprised me because this was a bit of an issue for me before. All in all great work Dale and I can't wait for the first update. Lacaixa Jul 23, 2007, 04:41 PM BTW When is the first update due ? manningscolts18 Jul 23, 2007, 05:25 PM please not another hitler debate. Lacaixa Jul 23, 2007, 05:34 PM please not another hitler debate. I'm happy enough with Von Papen. Dale Jul 23, 2007, 07:37 PM BTW When is the first update due ? Should only be a couple of weeks. Keep an eye on the RtW forum: http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=265 boldra Aug 02, 2007, 02:07 PM please not another hitler debate. Any links to the other debates? Has it made it into a FAQ? I'm rather surprised and disappointed by this omission. I was going to do a quick edit of my own just to change the name and the flag, but I'd be very interested in Firaxis' justification. Thanks Dale Aug 02, 2007, 02:53 PM Any links to the other debates? I was going to do a quick edit of my own just to change the name and the flag, but I'd be very interested in Firaxis' justification. Thanks Take your pick of what's been thrown around: 1. German Law 2. Public sentiment 3. The name on the box is Jewish 4. Firaxis are all communists I'm sure there's others, but they're the main ones. ;) civictor Aug 03, 2007, 12:31 PM What I am really looking forward to is a WWII scenario on a world map rather than separate european and pacific scenarios. Now that would be an interesting mod if anyone wants to do it! Lacaixa Aug 03, 2007, 02:04 PM I think a detailed world map would be too taxing for most machines. Joe Harker Aug 05, 2007, 05:47 AM I believe Dale is planning an unoffical upgrade of the mod to include a world map. Hopefully it will be like Rhye's and fall and won't take ages to load each turn. KrakenRouge Aug 07, 2007, 01:20 AM Will you also be modding it so that players that want to can include a hitler leaderhead and flag. Von Papen sort of irks me, and it disappoints me, that regardless of sensibilities, they would omit an influential if terrible leader. Why Stalin? Dale Aug 07, 2007, 03:23 AM You need to read the changelog for the add-on pack (beta). It's in the news headlines. :) Sureshot Aug 13, 2007, 04:58 AM ya, stalin wasn't all that nice either, and americans nuked 2 cities killing and maiming civilians indescriminately, and hitler wasnt the first person to try to eradicate a race. just seems unnecessarily ridiculous to omit him from a world war 2 scenario lol (go from making him look like the devil to pretending he didn't exist) |
