View Full Version : Amazon Order Status
Landstander Jul 23, 2007, 12:45 PM What is the status of your Amazon order? Has it shipped? What day is it 'supposed' to arrive? What shipping option did you choose?
I paid for 2-day shipping. It was supposed to ship today (23rd) but has not shipped according to the website. However, it is still scheduled to arrive on the 25th (fingers crossed!!).
I'm very curious to see if anyone's order ships TODAY.
Jeff1787 Jul 23, 2007, 01:02 PM My order is estimated to ship today and arrive tomorrow...one day shipping. The website shows it hasn't been shipped. If it isn't shipped soon, I won't get it tomorrow...oh well!!

When did you place your order?
In stock on 7/28, but ships 7/27 - that's a neat trick ;)
wilcoxchar Jul 23, 2007, 01:50 PM Haha, Amazon ran out of it.

If its any consolation, I think Amazon's shipping estimates have gotten really weird in the last several months...like predicting the WORST POSSIBLE shipping/arriving sceanrio but then showing up within the week (at least with normal shipping) from when the product was ordered. Even having pulled a few notifying me it shipped the day the product actually arrives. Perhaps their legal team has gotten a hold of this and figured promising them a completely bogus late date will only mean the customers will be stoked when it shows up several days ahead of that.

May 31: I'm curious how that corressponds to everyone's order/predicted ship date. If you have an earlier predicted ship date than me, did you order before me? If you ordered after me, do you have a later shipping day?
Landstander Jul 23, 2007, 03:28 PM I placed my order on July 9th!
They said it would ship the 23rd (thats what it still says today) and it would be here on the 25th (I paid for 2-day delivery)
Why would your shipping date be that much later than mine? I figured you had just ordered very recently and they are out of their first stock (and have to wait for more).

As a matter of fact, when you look up the game in their site, it says they will have stock on 7/28. However, my order still says it will ship the 23rd. This is driving me crazy! it says "Not Shipped yet" !
Mauer Jul 23, 2007, 04:36 PM Mine says it won't ship till the 28th, with an expected arrival time of Aug 1-3 :(
OTAKUjbski Jul 23, 2007, 04:45 PM Out of curiosity, placing an "overnight" order right now will ship on July 30th.
Or right down the street at the mall are the choices of Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameStop and EB Games.
I quit trusting the Interweb for spot-on delivery long ago. If you can't put it in your hands or download it off and FTP server, you're asking for trouble, imho.
manningscolts18 Jul 23, 2007, 04:45 PM mine says, ships on the 23 and delivered on the 25, i got 2 day shipping.
Tristan daCunha Jul 23, 2007, 04:48 PM Mine says it won't ship till the 28th, with an expected arrival time of Aug 1-3 :(
Bummer. Are you using their free shipping or are you paying for the shipping?
The Lance Jul 23, 2007, 04:57 PM I've had orders from amazon that have still been listed as 'waiting to ship' after the order has arrived. Their tracking system is famously inaccurate.
Landstander Jul 23, 2007, 04:59 PM @OTAKU
I've had the opposite experience - I always have a hard time finding stores that get it in on-time (and/or don't sell out and/or even know wtf I'm talking about and/or are within a reasonable distance) and I had LOTS of trouble with the Warlords Direct2Drive version. So I'm betting on Amazon this time:)
@manning
We're in the same boat!
jodonnell Jul 23, 2007, 05:04 PM I've tried pre-ordering new games from Amazon several times, and I would not recommend anyone else does so. The worst was when I tried to pre-order Rise of Legends; two weeks later, I gave up and ordered it from an affiliated seller, who got it to me in just a few days. Amazon never ships new games on time ever. Best bet is to either buy it at a store, or pre-order it from Gamestop or some other specialty retailer.
aberwak Jul 23, 2007, 09:18 PM Hmm.... It says it hasn't shipped out, but I still see this message:
"Shipping estimate: July 23, 2007
Delivery estimate: July 25, 2007"
Plus, the in-stock date of July 28 on the main Beyond the Sword descriptioin page doesn't make me feel too confident it'll be here. It's almost tempting to cancel my order and just try my luck going to the store tomorrow. Or I could wait, but where's the fun in that?

A month ago I ordered 60 packs or Orbitz gum from Amazon (I like gum and I save 40% this way), it told me it would arrive in September. I hope it comes earlier than that. Two months is a long time to ship a package.
Thrallia Jul 23, 2007, 09:24 PM Why buy it from Amazon, when it will come in 1-5 days later than you could get it in stores at the same price?
Denniz Jul 24, 2007, 07:08 AM Overnight my Amazon pre-order went from ship July 23/arrive July 24 to ship July 28/arrive July 30. Looks I will have to search the local stores today. It will give me great pleasure to cancel that order. I hope everyone else this happens to cancels theirs too.

That happened to me with Civ4 vanilla. I haven't bothered with Amazon for Warlords and got it the day of release (or rather the day it arrived in stores, release+1) and expect to do the same with BtS.
aberwak Jul 24, 2007, 08:07 AM Mine changed as well to ship July 30/arrive August 1. I will also cancel my order if I can find it in a store here in town. So far that hasn't been successful, though. That's one reason I wanted to avoid buying it in the stores: I'm not sure which ones will actually carry it.
sumit1207 Jul 24, 2007, 08:15 AM Amazon delayed mine to be delivered the 1st of August! I don't know if I should approve it though, do you think I would be able to get it from another store?
LightSpectra Jul 24, 2007, 08:29 AM I canceled my order. I'm going to EBGames.
Gaius Octavius Jul 24, 2007, 08:51 AM I checked EBGames' site and it's $20.00 more than Amazon. I also checked BestBuy.com and they claim to have it tomorrow for the same price as Amazon. It might be better to go through them or directly through a local store.
Gee, is it any real surprise that Amazon, the site which claimed an original release date of 7/10, is now suddenly having trouble? Bravo to the crew at Amazon! A well-done disinformation campaign if I do say so.
I'd suggest you all send them a message: "We will never trade with you, our worst enemy!!!"
Brau Jul 24, 2007, 09:32 AM Amazon order cancelled. Will try a store, or Steam. In that order. They're just digging their own graves. Metaphorically of course. :) I'm sure they're getting an avalanche of cancellations. Literally.

someone on here said there was the same kind of delay for civ 4 when it first came out,i mean i myself would understand if it was aretail wide thing but this just seems like amazon messed something up
xmen510 Jul 24, 2007, 09:46 AM EB Games is not getting it until tommorow now. See my post in North American support group pg. 9 for if you want to know more or how I feel.:)
Landstander Jul 24, 2007, 09:46 AM Ha - #%@! YOU Amazon!
Delivery estimate changed to Aug 1 - I didn't pay for expedited shipping so I could wait another week!
Guess I'll be going to the store - or going on Steam.
BirraImperial Jul 24, 2007, 09:59 AM Order canceled. I'm sick and tired of these people. I'm going to try some other store.
Fetus4188 Jul 24, 2007, 10:04 AM I cancelled my order from Amazon and got it off Steam instead.
SuiteXVI Jul 24, 2007, 10:23 AM Amazon can't ship it until they get it from the publisher. A little bird tells me that, as of last night, they have yet to receive a single case. This is nothing new as far as pre-ordering games from there. They rarely can make the street date on videogames unless it's some huge seller.

Landstander Jul 24, 2007, 10:50 AM I'm just glad to see so many of us have canceled our orders!
Hit 'em in the :commerce: :commerce: :commerce:
manningscolts18 Jul 24, 2007, 10:57 AM canceled it, amazon is horrible:mad:
SpockFederation Jul 24, 2007, 10:59 AM I'll head by best buy and check that out tomorrow. Probably will cancel mine.
Did amazon uk go through the same junk with the brits?
Phoenix1595 Jul 24, 2007, 11:36 AM I ordered from EBGames.com about a month ago for the same price as everyone else, and I am getting it tomorrow (2 day air). They also had the correct release date (unlike Amazon). They emailed yesterday afternoon (24th), and let me know that it had been packed and shipped.
I love Amazon, but when it comes to electronics/games, they fall behind the competition.
goonie61 Jul 24, 2007, 12:07 PM yeh i canceled mine from amazon because the delivery was changed to aug 1-2
shmily_dana Jul 24, 2007, 12:32 PM I hope everybody who cancels is ahead of me in line...I'm sticking with amazon on this one. I see a lot of the people who are finding it in stores are getting the only available copy. (I assume most of the shipment goes to the pre-orders.) I don't have time for a potential scavenger hunt. I won't have a lot of time to play till the first weekend of Aug, so I can wait.
LightSpectra Jul 24, 2007, 12:37 PM Got BtS at GameStop.
I'm wondering if I should cancel my pre-order of BioShock, too.
Denniz Jul 24, 2007, 01:15 PM It took me less than 10 minutes to drive to the nearest Gamestop and get my copy. They had gotten 4 copies with only 2 pre-orders, so no problem.
Amazon order cancel with reason "wouldn't arrive in time". I like Amazon for books but for software, never again. :gripe:

When my mom canceled the order, I don't think she left as nice of a note. She was pretty mad that Amazon didn't even inform her about the shipment delay until July 30- she had to look that up herself. At least Gamestop had 2 copies when I got there.
civspain Jul 24, 2007, 02:54 PM dont feel bad amazon people gogamer.com has just did the same thing pushed the damn thing back to the 26th .this is unbeliveble how bad off are we cant even release a game on time never mind natural disaters we are all doomed
Gaius Octavius Jul 24, 2007, 02:58 PM You know, after the Aussies got BtS first I said I felt like nuking Australia in Warlords... now I feel like nuking South America.
shmily_dana Jul 24, 2007, 05:13 PM My status updated to "items shipping soon". Thanks everyone who cancelled!
