View Full Version : what paramaters are you going to start your new game with?
shmity72 Jul 23, 2007, 06:43 PM I'm going with sitting bull since i'm part native american, epic because i've heard marathon is buggy, continents custom 2 because i like to have to use boats...huge map,
prince level, i'll probably go to monarch eventually down the road, once i solve prince.
default number of civs...
so....what about the rest of you out there waiting for gamestop to open up tomorrow morning?:)
shmity72 Jul 23, 2007, 07:53 PM please please reply...
Dutch Canuck Jul 23, 2007, 08:01 PM Okay :) I'm going to play the Dutch, normal speed, small map, custom game so I can add a civ. Carthage, Portugal, and Vikings will be principle rivals (others undecided), and I'll go for 3 continents or snaky archipelago. I'll probably play warlord diff to make it easy to focus upon game performance.
Dark_Jedi06 Jul 23, 2007, 08:08 PM I'll be playing as Charlemagne (the Rathaus looks sick and so do Landsknechts :)) on a huge map, continents, epic or marathon speed with a difficulty of Noble. :p
sela1s1son Jul 23, 2007, 10:07 PM I'll play on Terra - Large... maybe standard. New computer w/ better processor, and DDR2 ram (1 GB), but can't carry the vid card over. Epic speed. Likely Warlord difficulty.
All the BTS civs will be in my first game. I will most likely be Ethiopia or Sioux (I might edit the name for my personal taste)... more likely Ethiopia as they have never been in any Civ game before.
I am likely to include the civs with the six new leaders also.
I will click the "Choose religion" setting. I will probably choose either Judaism, Christianity, or Islam as my religion if I found one depending on what is available and my mood. More due to my likely being Ethiopia and those having a stronger presence there. If the "Sioux" I'll either pick Judaism or Taoism as I really love the sound effects for them LOL.
Medium Sea Level, Temperate. All victories enabled. No tech trading.
Edit - I will also include Gandhi... my nemesis... and crush him... lovingly. ;)
Tsukasa Jul 23, 2007, 10:13 PM yes, Charlemagne. that one is for sure.
the rest? undecided...
maybe standard map +random stuff
but as victory condition only conquest! the other stuff is just lame :p
edit:
oh, i forgot one of the best changes in BtS! The "Choose Religion" setting.
of course i will use it in my games!
can't wait to found christianity, build the AP and rule the world. [crazy laugh]muhahaha[/crazy laugh] :crazyeye:
mice Jul 23, 2007, 10:38 PM I like small maps because the diplomacy becomes simple sooner, although BTS diplo is a different ball game.
Big and Small is a part water map which makes for more colony spawning.
'No tech brokering' is a good setting IMO.
Choose religions. Just fun to spread Islam.
Normal speed.
Noble was hard enough. I'll stick to Noble for a while.
Already tried a Zara cultural victory. Next game ....Gilgamesh.
PimpyMicPimp Jul 23, 2007, 10:49 PM First game will probably be Dutch on a Standard-Huge continent map. I havn't decided if I'm just going to go with random civs or go custom and pick all new Civs.
I will be giving Boudica/Roman combination a try pretty quick, too
EEE_BOY Jul 23, 2007, 10:53 PM I start with fractal, normal speed, monarchy( went down a level because of the better AI and new stuff), sumerian, but i found the AIs are still crap.
Train Jul 23, 2007, 10:57 PM Portugal, Terra Map, Standard (My PC can't support more), 10 Civs, Temperete, Epic Speed, Choose Religion.
Landstander Jul 23, 2007, 11:32 PM Most likely the Dutch... good UU for early game, great UB for late game. Financial will ease the transition and fund good espionage.
Large map: Snaky Continents, or maybe Big and Small (sounds very cool, from what I've read). Epic speed.
Difficulty will be Noble (which I pwn in Warlords) or Prince (which I'm ok at). Monarch will be for a later game.
Custom Civs - mostly new ones, no tech brokering sounds good, choose religions so I can convert the world to Taoism.
I'm trying for a full on Capitalist Imperialist game! Many colonies and other overseas possessions for massive trade route income and resource hording, monopolize the corporations (if possible) , dominant the sea, spread my religion and corporations as much as possible - and fund a massive espionage operation. I'll try and save major wars for the late game to play with all the new units.
Oh, and I'll have to get Great Lighthouse and Colossus! (crosses fingers!)
MangleMeElmo Jul 23, 2007, 11:44 PM Continents, Prince (for my first few games, then move back up to Monarch), Epic speed, normal size map. I'll want to try a new leader, but I'm not sure which one is best suited for the ruthless warmongering I intend to do.
Schoszarzek Jul 23, 2007, 11:48 PM Already have BTS, started first game with:
Terra, Huge, Noble, Played as Dutch (my new fav! Cre/Fin=the win!)
shmity72 Jul 24, 2007, 12:33 AM thanks for all your responses..i think i'm going to bed soon but, i wanted to say thanks for the inadvertant advice of no brokering techs.
laters
DrewBledsoe Jul 24, 2007, 12:49 AM I've played two full games (1500AD and I need a rest in game 2 , first game crashed)
Huge/Monarch.Marathon,Agg ais (this is crazy with Bts mind you, rand pers.no tech brokering)..don't care who I play they're all reasonabley well balanced, entertainment is the order of the day :)
