Whoever is responsible for the HUGE disparity in speed of gameplay between Warlods/ Vanilla Civ Iv, stand up and take a bow :goodjob:

Whether you did it through improved (diminshed?) python calls etc. or whatever, its an amazing acheivement. Even with the "better" ai spamming troops left right and center, most people should be able to play the next larger map type than they could for Warlords. Its again, to me the most impressive change.... ...splendid programming someone :)

Hmmm... So far from what I've seen load times are about the same, to slightly slower, going from the same number of civs on the same size map, same diffculty, same map type, same settings, etc. This is understandable since there is much more going on, and there must be some optimizing because otherwise the times would be much longer, but I havn't noticed a major improvement. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention.

The professionals got the idea from Kael, when he was developing AoI and his Speedmod, but improved upon it. Speedmod works by eliminating all unnecessary python calls, which take up most of the computers time but are essential to modability. BtS instead determines which calls are necessary before the game starts, and disables all others. There are actually more python calls in BtS, but very few of them are actually made in a standard game. The pre-game checks could explain increased loading time, but should make the game itself run much faster and more smoothly.
