So, I don't really know how this works. I'm playing a game and I've had the slider on 10% or 20% but mostly 10%.

Anyway, now I can see inside all of Boudica's cities and all her territories are lighted up like mine.

Why is that? I didn't do anything.

So far, I've only learnt how to destroy iron and copper mines which I'm doing frequently too mind you.

Also, Charlemagne's 2 cities I can see but not all like Boudica's.

Can someone explain this to me?

Once you get a certain amount of EP's against a civ, you can see into their cities, but each city has a different value to be seen which is why only some of Charlies cities appeared.

On top of that, I noticed that you can have more information on a city if your culture or/and a spy of your is sitting there.

If you open the Espionage tab you can see how many EPs you need for different things

These are the "passive effects" for which no spy-units are needed. So no risk of detection!

anyone else think the chaper cost of ops by leaving a spy there for longer just isnt worth it? They seem very likely to be caught and the hit to diplo points negates the potential benefits I think...

Depends on how often you need those missions, what EP you have in store and if it is critical to act right now.
So far, I almost always left them until I get the -50% (5 turns idle), if especially I plan to do something expansive ( destroy castle !!! or steal Guilds )
but I keep 3 of them in advance in my territory in case in need emergency replacement .

In your opinion, do they have a better change to be caught when they have a spy around.
In other terms do spies see other spies ?
I assumed they did, my replacements garding key areas.
I did caught a great number of spies, but not always where I expected.
I got a water supply poisonned, though.

My spies seem to be caught very eailsy. Like I dont think any have lasted more than 3 turn stationary in enemy territory
Yeah spies see other spies. But they can be caught even without a spy in place

Me too but didn't affect my city that much.

The one interesting thing I found with spies was that when I was in a city, I was able to "influence religion" and succeeded and turned Charlemagne's state religion into Judaism.

It was expensive and an interesting experiment.
