How does it work?
whenever I create a new account, or log on with bazillions I have already created, nothing happens. It just goes "click" and stays in the same screen....:mad:

any ideas what to do?

Creating and logging into multiplayer is always incredibly frustrating for me too. Whenever something's not right...The game doesn't tell you anything. It just attempts loading...Then stops. It drives me nuts. I've had names I couldn't log onto again as well, and it does the same thing. Even when you're making a new name, the game doesn't tell you whether it is taken, or if your passwords don't match, or anything. Basically, it expects me to know what to do...It's not that big of a deal...but extremely irritating.

Don't bother, there's never anybody there.

Well, I want to get online, because some friends of mine who live away from me get their hands on civ soon. And therefore it is important that the thing works

Gamespy is a piece of crap. Direct IP is much more effective for a game where you want to play against a friend.

Multiplayer is a lot better than single player. It's a lot more satisfactory to beat human players than AIs. I'm playing a lot in vanilla multiplayer, and allthough gamespy is indeed crap, meeting other fun people all over the world in a multiplayer is much more fun.

I suggest you try again. Are you sure you are typing the right password? It doesnt give the right error message.
