sorry about the ot but why does the state property civic take away maintenance from cities i never understood this?

Other thread de-threadjacked. Next time either start a new thread, or post in the "quick questions/answers" thread, don't threadjack.

Supposedly government control is supposed to get rid of corruption. Nice logic there, Firaxis.:crazyeye:

Here, I gave up on this thread long ago, but I'm sure there are some commies here who would love to try and explain why the government controlling all property is a good thing.:smoke:

Cities suffer from maitenance because of corruption, apparently. So the state having total control over property is supposed to remove that corruption. Obviously, this is not the case in RL.

Let's stop going off topic. Why did you post this question here of all places?

well first of all i thought you payed maintinance because of of repairs keeping the place clean paying staff and stuff like that
and well i posted here because there were enough people here to reply
the reason is because the civic bonuses never made sense

It's off topic, of course, but the way state property works in Civ is that the corruption is insitutionalized (the government officials steal legally, as it were), which means that the corruption is uniform throughout your empire and manifests itself in lower income than with other economic systems. So under state property, your empire does not suffer from being far-flung, but it does not rake in money the way Free Market (and even, to some extent, Mercantilism and Environmentalism) do.
