(What You See Is What You Get) Or where is this coming from? (Thanks for you help, I really appreciate it) :) magicalsushi Jul 24, 2007, 11:00 AM Veritass's explanation was pretty literal. It really is that simple - the AI leaders keep track of how many techs you've traded for with anyone (of course, you don't get to see that kind of information about *their* tech trades, but never mind), and if the number gets too high, they'll stop trading tech with you. The number of techs at which they stop varies from leader to leader (and also according to difficulty level) - it's very high for Mansa Musa, meaning he'll trade with you for a long time, but it's quite low for leaders such as Louis XIV. I think it's worth making this clear, because the actual text, "we fear you are becoming too advanced", makes it sound like it's directly connected to how far ahead you are of the AI. It's not. You could hit the WFYABTA limit in the BC years, then never research another technology again, and you'll find the AI will never let you buy another tech from them even while your Macemen are watching them get ready to launch their spaceships. Or at least, that's my understanding from what I've read here...funnily enough, I've never been in a situation where I could test that last part. ;) |
