Just got the game. First CIV game. I searched for an answer to this question, but did not find anything.
I have a barbarian city near one of mine. They are sending wave after wave and I can defend myself. But I cannot attack the barbarians or their city. What am I doing wrong?

John,
Can you be more specific? You move your units in a square next to the barbarian. Can your unit enter the square the barbarian is in? Can you do that for the city?
Are you using a scout? Scouts cannot attack anything.

Screenshots and/or a saved game would help.

No. I could not enter the square occupied by the barbarian or the barbarian city. In fact, as the game progressed, I could not attack anyone. Though I did attack another civ earlier in the game. When ever I would give an attack order, the tile would get a red circle in it indicating I could not move the unit there.
Also, I was using different kinds of units.

You probably need to post a save and try the bug forum. Probably someone has seen it, that's the best play to try.

The barbarians probably built the Great Wall to defend against the "barbarians" in their mind.
