My guess : you saved using version 3, then you patched to version 3.02 and can't play further.

I guess you can't. You would need to remove the locked assets option, something quite hard to do...

It's an option called "Locked Modified Assets". You must have had it checked and no, that game is lost. The only way you'll be able to continue that game is by playing the unpatched version.
