Close race here, 3-2-3-3 at the moment. Who will win?

1) I've been neglecting the turn chats but will start attending them frequently, whether I'm elected or not.

May 29, 2002, 08:09 AM
2) My qualifications would probably be my mind, I'm very intelligent and can be very hard working (emphasis on can I'm afraid) I'll be sure to put effort into figuring out what is most important for us, and will beg for citizen input to help with any decisions.

3) My goals are to get Theory of Evolution. I've never missed it in a game and this is not going to be the first one. I'll be asking the leaders of every last place I can find with high sheilds if they'll start pre-building right after they build factories. I also want to get us tanks and advance us to the modern age and hopefully get a tech lead, or at least be 2nd or 3rd.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:12 AM
4) I read almost all of it, ignoring most religous (crusades) and the conspiracies. I also read all of the departments from the previous term when I originally came in to give me more knowledge of prior happenings.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:13 AM
5) I always vote in the polls to make sure I can express my opinion beyond my usual advice.

6) Yes, read number 5

7) I shall try but my computer is very tempermental and I shan't be able to most of the time. When I can of course.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:15 AM
8) I always follow laws and rules to the letter. (only when I know of them, if unsure I'm always safe rather than sorry) so I'll only offer changes to the constitution, and never over step my bounds.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:16 AM
9) Only unexpected tragedies would cause this, maybe loss of computer but that would last very short time.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:17 AM
10) I'd like cultural, because I absolutely love culture and hope to run for minister next term, or Spaceship, because that combines science and high production, which I'll strive for.

Curufinwe
May 29, 2002, 08:18 AM
11) My election would be with me working on building as many sheild-increasing buildings but that is out of my bounds but I'll strive for it, and building many universities in cities we neglected last term.

14) The mistakes of the last administration were the loss of Copernicus's Observatory, which we should of had if we had started pre-building early, and not researching education but allowing it to be found through the great Library (I presume this to be true, some one tell me the truth please) Had we not done this we'd have been far further in science, I have no parralel so I can't fix that. Also, Civanator did most science decisions himself, I shall ask the citizens and ask the other ministers for advice to have something wanted by most. I will also start on the industrial advances so we can gain an edge there.

1) Do you regularly attend chat turns? If no, will you do so when elected? If not, why?

I attend as many as possible, although turn chats are always during dinner :(
I am currently on summer vacation so I'll be able to make more of them.

My goal is to get us infront of every other nation, and after that get a good lead on them ;)

I read all of it. I have alot of free time on my hands and I'm on alot.

Yes.

8) Do you feel that the primary role of a cabinet member is to operate within the boundaries of the constitution? Or do you feel that the constitution is a document open to your interpretation?

I will follow the constitution at most times. Of course once and a while to get something done you do have to break a law, just don't get caught ;)

9) Term 2 saw the unexpected retirement (or attempted retirement) of several elected officials. Do you see any reason why you could not serve your full term in office if elected?

Spaceship

1) Do you regularly attend chat turns?

Yes.

2) What are your qualifications for the position?

I was Trade Deputy last term and helped to acquire several techs through luxury trades. I'm also a science buff and an electrical engineer in real life.

3) What are your overall goals for Phoenatica? How will you use your position to further those goals?

I aim for Pheonatica for take the lead in science in addition to its many dominant aspects now. I will work closely with other departments (and the Science Leader if I become deputy) to ensure that the Science Department's views are heard by the government.

4) Which parts of the Democracy forum do you read? All of it? Cabinet threads? Citizen groups?

Most of it. As far as time allows.

5) Do you vote in the polls? If not, why?

Yes.

6) If elected to a cabinet position will you vote in the Cabinet Polls? If not, why?

Yes.

7) If you are the highest Chain of Command link present at the appointed turn chat hour are you willing to take responsibility for running the game during that session?

Yes.

8) Do you feel that the primary role of a cabinet member is to operate within the boundaries of the constitution? Or do you feel that the constitution is a document open to your interpretation?

The constitution should always be followed as far as possible. Due to its continuing evolution, there may be differing interpretations.

9) Term 2 saw the unexpected retirement (or attempted retirement) of several elected officials. Do you see any reason why you could not serve your full term in office if elected?

No, barring unforseen circumstances.

10) What method of victory do you advocate for Phoenatica?

We seem to be headed for a cultural/spaceship/diplomatic victory and I am fine with all types of victory but will support that which most citizens desire.

11) Briefly describe how your election would advance that victory condition.

I would strive for maintaining a sustainable lead in technology that will give us an edge economically and militarily.

For current officials running again
12) What were the high points of your administration? What did you do that would make the citizens vote for you again?

I was fortunate to take part in the golden age of trade when foreign trades all became possible. I have always advocated the rights of citizens.

13) In your past term did you have to act against your impulses to support popular (poll) decisions? When? Did you ever follow your impulses despite contrary popular decisions?

I will always act according to poll decisions since I believe citizens should wield the power to control the game. I do what I feel is best if some actions are not restricted by my duties in office.

For candidates without prior elected office
14) What mistakes were made in the last administration and what would you have done differently?

Given the hindsight that we now have, errors such as restricting voice in turn chats would not have been made. However, I believe the administration has always acted in the best interests of Pheonatica.

Civanator

1)I try to when i can but with other things and the time it is at it is hard to get there.

2)I was science leader for term 1 and 2 and i know the tech tree by heart.

4)i read all of it ;)

5) all that i find

6)yes

9)The only reason i might not be able to serve is because of vacation and family, other than that no.

10) Military, but mostly Space

11)My election will give me the power to research technology to better suit our glorius military, and at the same time getting into space.

12)I don't know what the first part means but to make the citizens vote for me i always post information on the first page of the science thread and i openly accept comments or suggestions on research.

It appears as if the race is lost for me, but Strider, Civanator, and Zur are all far superior to me in this.

I'm not losing heart, I'd much rather be trying for culture (which I'd still probably lose), but I hope i can be chat representative if Strider or Civanator aren't there. The Silmarillion by Tolkien is the book, the character is also known as Feanor.

Curufinewe do you know what you can do?

Once this term starts to to put as much helpful info into the culutral thread. If you have a good presence their you would get a good reputation for culture things.
