First I would like to say BTW is great, and big sincere thanks to those who contributed mods.:goodjob:

Now, I consider myself a casual player. I play for the experience and fun rather than for a challenge. With that said, I gave up on Rhye's Scenario out of frustration. I don't know if this is normal, an anomaly, or what. I am not saying there is something wrong, or I don't like the mod, I am just saying I don't understand the mechanics of what happened. Here are a few things that happened to me that I hope someone could explain:

- I built a city near another civ's border. I think it just disappeared a few turns later. I don't recall seeing a message that indicated any trouble. I just happen to notice two separate civ's units there and no city, no messages, nada - just gone! Did I miss something or a glitch?

- I was at war with Arabia. We were trading blows. I was getting the best of him slowly but surely. Then he mounts an attack on a city and takes it unexpectedly. I take it back the next turn. No problem, now back to directing my war plan. A few turns later, 3 - 4 new units appear in that city that is now taken over somehow. Again, I don't recall any messages regarding a battle, takeover, etc. The units were under the Arabian flag. However, they were "Phygian" (spelling)?. And they were units that he did not have previously - for example a war elephant. I know those units did not move through any tiles to get there, they just seemed to materialize out of nowhere.

- On the next turn, two more cities were were just "absorbed" into the Arabian empire - ? ? ? And then, two more cities were taken over away from the action by "Independents" - again, no messages, battles, etc.

In effect, in a few turns, half of my cities were hornswaggled by some voodoo magic. What were the mechanics of these events? I was in first place, with a a ton of culture and a sizable military.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear things up for me.

No idea with number one.

Number two saw him hire mercineries.

You were likely unstable....

Anyway, this is better put in the Rhye forum here, ask a mod to move it.

I agree, but let's put it in BTS Mods & Scenarios instead - Methos

When new civilizations spawn the city may change owners. Also your instability may have played a part in losing to independents etc.

Sorry about putting in this in the wrong place - thanks for moving it.

How to tell if I am unstable? I know I can be all over the place as far as techs and such, but how to remain "stable."

Can a civ spawn in a city owned by another player? Or will the new civ start a city of it's own? I guess it makes sense for a new city to spawn from a city that has changed hands a few times.

And as my original post declared my city just disappeared! I am sure of it!

For the record, I love the BTS. I have played a few full games in the past week or so. I stopped playing Civ for awhile. Going to start a game now. Thanks guys!

Read the wiki; http://wikirhye.wikidot.com/stability :)

Yup. My first few go's at Rhye's, I succumbed to huge stability problems, but after reading up on the mechanics, I'm slowly but surely improving my ability to manage my empire. The concept of stability adds a great deal to the game, and I really enjoy it. Just give it time; it'll grow on you.

Also, note that penalty for negative GNP. Unless I'm mistaken, that means that if you repeatedly run a deficit for a turn, you take a stability hit. Me, I routinely pile up cash from pillage or whatever and then turn up the research temporarily, thereby "spending" my cash on research. I think this practice entails a stability hit, which annoys me.

RFC is brilliant BUT it could do with a depth of unit such as found in Total Realism, Visamod or Servomod.

Is there a version about like that?

I play the version for Warlords. Is the BTS verison larger? More units in particular?

thanks

The only new units are the ones that came with BTS. I pretty sure there are no new units. And more units doesn't do much for me. All they would do is slow down the game.
