View Full Version : vassals and buildings
lulu135 Aug 07, 2007, 01:11 AM Apologies if these are newbie questions. I can't find answers anywhere.
I made Portugal my vassal after a long war. I have a diplomatic score of about -20 with him, mostly based on repeated nukings. Now, everything he could give me is red (either "I'll never trade with you, my worst enemy" or "Surely you must be joking"). I thought the whole point of vassals was that you could demand stuff and they had to give it to you so why do they still get to do the red thing?
Also, is there any way to destroy my own buildings? There's two reasons I would want to do this, to remove unhealthy causing stuff, and to rebuild national wonders in a different city.
CloudedSun Aug 07, 2007, 03:46 AM I don't think there's a lot you can do about some diplomatic modifiers. Some will change with time, or fade, but others seem to be permanent. IIRC nuking someone gives you a permanent negative with them.
So yes, you can have someone who is a vassal, but is so annoyed they won't do anything to help you. Usually your best bet is not to vassalise someone who is that annoyed, but just wipe them out or conquer them.

No, National Wonders need to be planned for in long terms
and if you have unhealthy causing buildings the options are
If Coal Plants are the problem, build Nuclear Plant/Hydro Plant or 3GD
Otherwise
Get more health Buildings/resources/techs (eventually you can get a Recycling Center which eliminates all the unhealth penalties of buildings besides the coal plants.)

But if they continue to refuse to give you anything, can you remove their vassal status ? Or declare war on them ?
Zetetic Apparat Aug 07, 2007, 05:53 AM The irritating thing is not being able to demand something in the first place. If you demand something and they refuse, then I believe you can declare war.

Yep my point exactly. Just because they don't want to give me something doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to demand it. They're my vassal who cares what they want.
Oh and it seems you can only declare war if they refuse a physical resource. If you demand anything else then you still can't declare war if they refuse.

I thought of this when I liberated a city that had my national park in it, and suddenly I was able to build a new one. Then I thought there must be an easier way to do this. Too bad you can't do spy missions in your own cities.

Yeah !! When Frederick II asked to become my vassal I tough I may be cool but ... He refuses to trade anything with me ! He is enthusiast with me, but all resources are in red and if I ask him to give me all its gold he refuses but I cannot declare war ... How can I drop this stupid parasite ?? :crazyeye:
winddbourne Aug 08, 2007, 02:58 AM I agree there should be a "Give Me" button along with the "What do you think about . . " and "Maybe you should attack" options in "Lets discuss something else. That way the AI knows when your trading, and when it either has to give you X or declare independence.
lcor1979 Aug 08, 2007, 03:16 AM Yes it should be possible ! BTW you can be sure that at the first occasion I'll declare war on him and raze its poor civilization ! He he ..
