View Full Version : Can someone with 3DS max tell me why my model isn't animating properly?

I've gotten 3 animations in so far using that sequence technique. But it won't function properly in game. When the unit spawns it just goes through the whole timeline then freezes instead of doing the proper sequence. What goeth wrong?

I know you're out there, good animators! I'll find you! Even if I have to trawl through the FFH credits! I saw those spiders moving! You can't get that from just splicing in the swordsman kfm files!

Oh yeah, here's the source and result files

If you didn't checked this tutorial, you should do this - it should be helpfull

I personally don't have experience in making completly new animations (i was creating custom bomber animations but it was peace of ... hmm... well, it doesn't looked as supposed to :) - the nifviewer is better and faster tool in this situation).
I just modify example file that firaxis gave.
From tank animations - just moving/adding/exchanging/deleting the dummies, adding/exchanging/deleting new sounds and effects i was able to create custom animations for
- Self propelled gun
- Truck
- Mechanized Infantry with mounted machine gun
- Guided Missile
- Artillery
- Mobile Rocket Launcher

What do you mean by "that sequence technique"?

Anyway, I can't look at the file now as I'm not home but if the unit goes through the entire timeline that means you didn't define the animation sequences correctly. Either you didn't specify the proper range of frames or didn't apply the script at all. Do you have an MD node?

In any case, double check everything, 90% of the time when I encounter problems, I later realize I just forgot or missed something. I'll try to take a look at the file but it might only be tomorrow, maybe Ploep will see this thread and check it out.

Cheers

Make sure you hit the checkbox for looping animation if it's meant to be an "idle" sequence.

Sounds to me like you're missing the main dummy, am I correct? Asioasioasio gave the best advise I can think of - open an example file and just make your own dummies and animation sequences from there. Saves you the time of worrying about all the different (effects, sounds, attachments, etc) dummies.
