View Full Version : RFC - Loading a game as the Americans
Koba the Dread Aug 08, 2007, 07:53 AM Greetings all.
If I am posting in the wrong location, I apologize and please do not hesitate to delete or move my post. The situation I have encountered is quite puzzling. I started a game as the English and around the turn of the 17th Century I was given the option of taking over as the Americans; which I chose to do.
After saving the game at varying intervals I encountered a strange problem: when I started CIV BTS back up and chose the file to load - nothing happens. More specifically, CIV just sits on the RFC screen without any loading screen (quite unusual).
However, I got around that obstacle by loading my last saved file of the English and once that loads I go and load the file from the Americans (which works without issue). So, with that said, has anyone else encountered a similar problem or has anyone figured out how to combat that issue.
Thank you for your time.
ibcoltscrew Aug 08, 2007, 11:16 AM Maybe you were playing Rhye's of Civilization Mods and didnt load the mods before loading your save ... not sure tho, it's just an idea.
Koba the Dread Aug 08, 2007, 01:30 PM Good point, I'll take a look at it when I get home. Thanks for your advice.
Aramil799 Aug 12, 2007, 05:01 PM I had the same problem; I hadn't tried your solution though. I'll check that out.
Quantumf8 Aug 13, 2007, 01:08 AM I had a similar problem, I solved it by loading a save from in game, rather than at at the civ menu, only happens for civs I switched to
Koba the Dread Aug 16, 2007, 01:55 PM Dear Quantumf8,
I'm glad someone else has encountered this problem. I also got around the problem by loading a saved game while in an actual game; and yes, it has only happened to civs I've switched to.
TheJopa Aug 17, 2007, 03:32 AM Me too, and I reported it in RFC forum. Hopefully it will be patched.
Koba the Dread Aug 17, 2007, 11:15 AM Dear TheJopa,
Thanks for posting. It is not a major problem, but I wanted the powers that be to know about the issue.
Jaffa_lord Aug 21, 2007, 06:01 PM Well it looks like after weeks of searching on the threads, I've found people who are having the same trouble. Thanks guys :goodjob:
Jaffa_lord Aug 22, 2007, 08:57 AM I normaly load the mod first, however, and the game gets stuck in a loop just before the loading bar shows up. WHY??????
Koba the Dread Aug 22, 2007, 10:59 AM Dear Jaffa lord,
I have no clue as to why it gets stuck in that loop. I have not heard anything on any of the other forums about this. It's not really a big deal, but I just wanted to make sure that the problem gets reported.
Jaffa_lord Aug 22, 2007, 11:31 AM Yeah, I'm not too sure why myself. I've been talking to Gabriele (Rhye), but I'm not getting any help. :(
Koba the Dread Aug 22, 2007, 02:04 PM At the end of the day, I am not exactly worried or upset about this issue. Ultimately, it is nothing more than a minor glitch, and we know how to get around the problem.
But, I just want to make sure that "Rhye" knows about it.
Jaffa_lord Aug 24, 2007, 04:43 PM Im worried about my problem, because I cant switch to a new Civ and save the game with feeling safe that I can play it again later! And since you cant START as the Americans, I'm usually Romans (or English). Maybe I'll E-Mail him again...
Rhye Aug 31, 2007, 05:35 AM since you cant START as the Americans, I'm usually Romans (or English)
sure you can. Download the unlocked WBS
Mewtarthio Sep 01, 2007, 07:13 PM sure you can. Download the unlocked WBS
Where's that? I've always wanted that available (I'm quite interested in seeing how the AI does during the autoplay).

Check the stickied threads in the RFC development forum (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=204), one of them has the link to the unlocked wbs in the first post.
