View Full Version : Appreciation Thread
Swargey Aug 09, 2007, 03:21 PM I don't know if this has ever been done before, but if it has been, well it's time for another one.
I'd like to take the time to thank all the modders and creators that make some brilliant graphics and units for Civ3. :goodjob: Way to go :)
Anyone is free to post and make a shout out to anyone they feel is truely special:lol:
Stormrage Aug 09, 2007, 06:31 PM I had a thread like this, we were giving medals :)
Which reminds me, here is a big fat one to LMR!, for opening the coolest thread on CFC, and being such a great guy and artist. And another one, just like the first, to Quinzah, a guy who went to a 40,000 people gathering, and forgot his axe at home :mischief: And another one, to Uncle Cam, the man who makes me older every now and then, cos his units make me feel its my birthday! :)
Thanks mates, you made my CFC experience very enjoyable :)
To the rest of ye, I am NOT going to list ~ 50 people that I like alot in one single post. Sit tight and wait your turn ;)
utahjazz7 Aug 09, 2007, 07:00 PM And another one, to Uncle Cam, the man who makes me older every now and then, cos his units make me feel its my birthday! :)
This sounds eerily like a cheap pick-up line. ;)
Stormrage Aug 09, 2007, 07:11 PM Shut up, you`re the guy who made me find out that I`m psychic... (remember the Elves tri-pack?)
.. In an almost exclusively male community, some people are bound to get paranoied sooner or later.. :crazyeye:
PS- we don`t use pick-up lines in the balkans. All one needs is good eye contact and some friends willing to entertain her friends ;) Booze helps too (works both ways )
Goldflash Aug 09, 2007, 11:15 PM Goldflash appreciates nothing!

Takhisis Aug 10, 2007, 10:28 PM I´m an evil megalomaniac goddess -do such goddesses appreciate anything?

Stormrage Aug 12, 2007, 01:01 PM EVERYONE WHO KEEPS THIS FORUM GOING STRONG AFTER 6 YEARS OF MODDING CIV3!!! :D
Oh, well, you`re welcome :hatsoff:
Orthanc Aug 12, 2007, 03:34 PM Mr. aaglo for passing on his POV Ray skillz.:thanx:
Ozymandias Aug 12, 2007, 03:46 PM  Wyrmshadow for over 1,000 splendid units  and his passing on of tips etc. to others.
Azmorg Aug 14, 2007, 12:25 AM To Sir Plotinus for his outstanding work:
Scenarios
Units
Leaderheads
The US Congressional Medal of Honor. The highest civilian award. I realize that a Limey might not completely appreciate a Yankee medal, but then I'm a yank (of British extraction I might add), and I'm giving the medal.
So, Plotinus, thank you for your contributions.

I say we just knight him.
Plotinus Aug 14, 2007, 04:18 AM I'd never accept a knighthood. But I'm very happy with a Congressional Medal of Honor! So thank you very much.
BadKharma Aug 15, 2007, 10:15 PM OK I was trying to avoid posting in this thread however. Azmorg and cubsfan6506 the Medal of Honour is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States. It is often colloquially referred to as the Congressional Medal of Honor because the President presents the award "in the name of the Congress". It is bestowed on a member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes himself "…conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.
Also I might add the majority of them are awarded posthumously maybe you should think about that.
BadKharma Aug 15, 2007, 10:30 PM Reflect upon this before you make a post like you did.
Latest awards of the CMH (http://www.army.mil/cmh/html/moh/iraq.html)
Only other award of CMH between Viet Nam and Iraq (http://www.army.mil/cmh/html/moh/somalia.html)

As a veteran myself, I completely aggree with what BadKharma said.
Rob (R8XFT) Aug 16, 2007, 11:46 AM This thread goes to show that what some people see as a way describing how much they appreciate an individual touches a nerve with others. Please accept that we're all different; not all of us are veterans or American and don't always realise the implications surrounding suggesting a special medal to be awarded to an individual.
I've read the stories of the bravery of those men. They're very impressive individuals and I can appreciate your feeling having read about them that they're simply in a different league and their actions shouldn't be belittled by comparing them to the achievements of a modmaker.
However, I'm certain from bumping into Azmorg on these forums on several occasions that there was no malice intended. Try to understand that the intention was to praise Plotinus' achievements - which do deserve the highest civilian modmaking medal of honour - rather than belittle the brave actions of those servicemen.
odintheking Aug 16, 2007, 11:55 AM I'd like to that Odin for his work in progress on the Star Wars MOD.
OH....IM BACK!!!! but i am in school so i wont have much time anymore....
Aw, thanks, dude! I really haven't done much for the mod, but thanks anyway, ;). And nice to see you back!
Rob (R8XFT) Aug 16, 2007, 11:57 AM Goldflash appreciates nothing!
:agree:
You're just a grumpy old man these days aren't you ;) ?

No wonder :) : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=5804394&postcount=10
Hikaro Takayama Aug 16, 2007, 03:03 PM Rob: Perhaps maybe Plot should be given the Civ III Unit Maker's Legion of Merit (complete with medal featuring a cast version of the Tank vs. Spearman smiley :spear: )?

Sounds like a great idea to me ;) . Love the idea of using that smiley on a medal :) !
BadKharma Aug 16, 2007, 05:13 PM I understand that no malicious intent was intended. However I served with Sergeant First Class Shughart when we were both assigned to 5th SFG. He stayed in the service and eventually found his way to Delta. I just hope that people wil consider what they are replying with before they hit the post reply.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded to civilians with outstanding merit. Or maybe make up an award (best choice).
I do recognize that Plontinus has gone above and beyond in making everyones Civ3 experience a better one but there are limits. Wyrmshadow, NavyDawg, VingerJoe, Orthanac, UtahJazz, Bjornlo, Orthonic, Kinboat, Cam JH, R8XFT, El-Justo, Civinator, Rocoteh, eric_A, Pounder, Ares de Borg, embryodead, and so many others have also contributed and advanced so much to improving the civilization experience. There are just so many people that make worthwhile contributions that I dont feel that any single one can be singled out. Even the immense amount of research that I_Batman, and Simon Darkshade have contributed is worthy of praise.
aaglo Aug 17, 2007, 04:11 AM I appreciate Civ3 and CFC.
Swargey Aug 21, 2007, 03:18 PM Well now, I'm gone for a few days and theres some hate going around in a love thread...imagine that :( . and no...im not a hippie ;)
