View Full Version : How does debug mode work? Disco Bob Aug 09, 2007, 10:01 PM I place the cities in the editor but im not sure how to get the cultural boundaries to expand like in the Rise of Rome or other conquests. So how will debug mode help? kulade Aug 09, 2007, 10:16 PM If you want to keep cultural boundaries expanded (Is that what you want?), you need to press "Retain Culture on Capture. Not debug Mode. Disco Bob Aug 09, 2007, 10:25 PM What I wanted was the cultural boundaries to start off expanded. kulade Aug 09, 2007, 10:32 PM Right click on the city in the editor and go to the City tab. Put in the cultural value in the marked location. 10 = Expanded once 100 = Expanded twice 1000 = Expanded thrice And so on. :) Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 09:36 PM thanks that helped. can you make your civilopedia entries? kulade Aug 10, 2007, 09:52 PM To edit the civilopedia, go to conquests(or PTW or Civ3)/text/civilopedia.txt. Is that what you want? Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 09:58 PM do you just add one kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:04 PM If it is a unit, building, race or resource entry you have to link it from the editor as well. After you do that you can just add it in. PRTO = Unit GOOD = Resourse TERR = Terrain RACE = Civ BLDG = Building Civilopeida entries involving links, and font styles are fairly self explanatory if you look at the premade entries. GCON is a game concept entry you can add it by putting it in the list at the top of the page. EDIT and DESC_PRTO_ is a further description accessed by a button in game, FYI. Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:08 PM where do you find the links and crap kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:12 PM The editor has slots for civilopeida entries and they must match the entry in the txt file. Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:13 PM ok i must be stupid becuase you're being specific and i have no clue what to do. can you explain step by step how to make your own? i just can't find where to make one. Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:15 PM do you make in microsoft word? and save it in the file? and name it whatever you want with the tag? kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:15 PM You should check the tutorial section: http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57 The guides there are far more lucid than me. EDIT: It would help if I knew exactly what you were putting in your game. Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:19 PM what do you want to know? thanks for your help too i needed it and ill look at the tutorial. kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:22 PM what do you want to know? So, are you adding a unit, tech, what? Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:24 PM i just want to edit a civilopedia entry not make a new unit kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:25 PM i just want to edit a civilopedia entry not make a new unit Oh! Well all you do is go to civilopedia.txt and find and replace the old text. Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:29 PM i ran a search for it so should I just type it in at the bottom? im making a new unit but i not making an image for it just using another one for it. Takhisis Aug 10, 2007, 10:31 PM I suppose you´ve read these: for item "ENTRY" with key "TYPE_ENTRY" ; the large icon would be FIRST under "ICON_TYPE_ENTRY" ; the small icon is SECOND under "ICON_TYPE_ENTRY" ; ; buildings break from this form, ; a building -- wonder, small wonder, city improvement is displayed as follows: ; ; #ICON_BLDG_NAME ; TYPE ; file list... ; ; type indicates how many files are in the file list. ; if only one icon exists for the building, TYPE should be SINGLE, and 2 files in list (large, small) ; if the building icon varies by era, TYPE should be ERA, and 1 file for each era per size in order should be in the list ; if the building icon varies by culture TYPE should be CULTURE, and file for each culture type per size in order should be in the list ; types must be written in CAPITAL LETTERS ; the order that the file names are written in must correspond to the order that they are in the .bic file: ; for ERA in the default mod that is: Ancient, MiddleAge, Industrial, Modern ; for CULTURE in the default mod that is: American, European, Roman/Mediterranean, ; ; This may turn into the default art customization file... I'm adding the leader head art now... that comes in Firaxis´ pediaIcons.txt file Civilopedia.txt ; Notes: for Middle Ages ; Keys: ; to add a game concept one must first add a Key for it. these are of the form: ; GCON_Name ; where Name contains only alpha-numerical symbols. ; these Keys are used to look up the game concept Name and Text. ; Keys are NOT translated. ; Keys for other items (units, techs, etc.) are set by Civ3Edit. ; ; Game concepts follow the form: ; #Key ; Name ; Text ; Links in game concepts follow the form: ; $LINK<Text=Key> ; the Text -- everything between the '<' and the '=' must be translated. ; the Key -- everything between the '=' and the '>' must be a valid key ; for the link to work ; ; Descriptions follow the form: ; #Header ; Text ; the Header for descriptions must be in the form DESC_Key ; so, for the game concept: "Territory" that has the key "GCON_Territory", ; the Header should be "DESC_GCON_Territory" that comes at the head of the civilopedia.txt file. The files are in ...\scenario folder\text\civilopedia.txt ...\scenario folder\text\pediaIcons.txt Those should give you the basic idea, but you could do one of two things: go to the tutorials (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57) section (standard option); or experiment for yourself (better option with completely unpredictable results) kulade Aug 10, 2007, 10:33 PM Okay make sure in your .biq the unit has a civilopedia entry in the slot: PRTO_Myunit. Then write on a new line: #PRTO_Myunit ^ ^ ^[My unit] is awesome blahblah (description) Or copy an old entry and replace the old PRTO_ with PRTO_Myunit. EDIT: CP, yeah I should have just told you to read the top of the files. :ack: Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:35 PM yea ive seen it im just wondering where i should add my entry now Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 10:36 PM ok i get it thanks a lot guys Disco Bob Aug 10, 2007, 11:39 PM ok it went let me save the edited version i want. what should i do now? BadKharma Aug 11, 2007, 01:48 AM do you make in microsoft word? and save it in the file? and name it whatever you want with the tag?
