It's not a high priority, but I think we should start jotting down Events and Quests as people think of them. I'm sure we can rework a lot of the packaged ones for starters, but eventually we'll need SMAC-based beauties.

Since we are planning on having Field lab improvements we can surely come up with a host of events based around these ranging from very good (techs) to very bad (alien attacks). Boreholes will certainly increase the likelihood of negative events as well.

It'd be interesting to see the implied SMAC story in some sort of quest. IIRC, you had a personal assistant that got killed when you've lost your first mindworms to a hostile fraction. Stuff like that seems to fit the event system perfectly.

Here's a good one! The loss of the first rover on Planet gives the Rick (Rover) Baxter popup (Baxter piloted his rover in a native vortex warding off wave after wave of mindworms and so saving a base...), giving an extra to existing hologram theatres.

In the same manner the quote for the research hospital could be used, talking "of some workers having mingled with the test patients", causing unrest about the methods there.
