View Full Version : "Fair Continents" map never has aluminum, gold, silver

I've played about a dozen games with maps generated from the "Fair Continents" script. This is on the latest versions of Civ4(plain), Warlords, and now BtS. None of them ever have any aluminum, gold, or silver. Actually, I do infrequently notice about one gold or silver mine (on a huge map) at the end of the game, but I think these are due to the random discovery of these things along the course of the game from having a mine present anywhere.

Also, I play these maps with on huge with 18 civs, and typically the oil is usually two squares away from the shore for most civs, and maybe only 1 or two of the islands has oil on-land.

Can someone fix this alum/gold/silver deficit in the script, or tell me how to do it ? I looked in there, but didn't see any obvious reason why there's no aluminum or gold or silver.

Finally, if someone knows a better map script that would have 18 islands with one player starting on each island, where the islands definitely don't touch, I'd use that. The "SmartMap" one usually gloms 2-3 civs on the same bigger island, and the "Continents" one will only start one-civ per island for 6 or fewer civs.

Thanks,

Jeff

Well, Planet Generator has continent separation, you can specify 18 continents.
To make things fairer, select climate variation to soft or very soft, lower equator temperature, no continent scattering, no lonely islands, and that should do it. If there are problems with continent shape, change it to round (not really round, but the most land in the same place).

However, so far resource generation is standard.

I used it on BeyondtheSword v3.02, and it has made two very good maps so far.

Thanks!
