View Full Version : France-0 Senegal-1 allhailIndia May 31, 2002, 06:33 AM Yes the unbelievable has happened!!! polymath May 31, 2002, 06:38 AM Yes!!!!!! That is why the world cup is great. Anything can happen. Hitro May 31, 2002, 06:40 AM [dance] Yes!!! You say it polymath! :D Dell19 May 31, 2002, 06:41 AM It has to be one of the best results to start a world cup. Senegal to be champions... animepornstar May 31, 2002, 06:42 AM the unbelievable is not the score, cameroon won over argentina in wc90 by 1-0. the unbelievable is the way they won with a really good defense and dangerous counter attacks. i watched the game with an italian and a spanish. they were eveb happier than i was after the match. :D allhailIndia May 31, 2002, 06:43 AM It seems it is a repeat of what happened in 1990 when an African country defeated the reigning world champs. In that case, it was Argentina and Cameroon. If the first time qualifiers have smote down the World Champs, I wonder what is in store for the others:mwaha: allhailIndia May 31, 2002, 06:44 AM Damn animepornstar got ahead of me..., but I was first to post result on CFC.... Yay me!![dance] MrPresident May 31, 2002, 06:49 AM I thought that they deserved the win. They had a pretty impressive midfield, especially the left-winger. Although that striker was good he just couldn't stay onside. It just wasn't France's day. They really missed Zindane. However nothing should be taken from Senegal, brilliant victory. As they say, anything can happen in football. animepornstar May 31, 2002, 07:04 AM didnīt france have five players standing offside in an attack? that must some kind of record. allhailIndia May 31, 2002, 07:07 AM Hats off to the Senegalese goalkeeper,Sylva, I think he saved some goals quite brilliantly.:goodjob: MrPresident May 31, 2002, 07:11 AM "didnīt france have five players standing offside in an attack? that must some kind of record." You have never seen the crazy gang (Wimbledon) play. In their glory days that had this tactic of everyone running out of the box when a corner was cleared. There were occasions when 8-9 players were offside. Dell19 May 31, 2002, 07:14 AM Originally posted by allhailIndia Damn animepornstar got ahead of me..., but I was first to post result on CFC.... I think it were 6. Senegal rulezzz rjgo May 31, 2002, 07:33 AM i still think nigeria is gonna win shalom rjgo Zwelgje May 31, 2002, 07:36 AM It has become some sort of tradition that in the opening game of the WC the defending champion doesn't win. Since 1974 only twice did the defending champion win. (got that from a dutch newssite) T-Slyce May 31, 2002, 07:39 AM I was in the München Hauptbahnhof when it happened and everyone watching the game on the big telescreen thingy cheered 'til their faces were purple and/or teal. Baleog May 31, 2002, 07:52 AM Brazil beat Scotland in the opener of France 98, and Germany beat Bolivia in the opener of USA 94. So it hasn't beentoo long since the defending champions won their first game. France could be in trouble now if they don't win their remaining two games. Anyone fancy them to get knocked out. Seems unlikely, but if they draw one and win one; 4 points doesn't always get you through. Food for thought. Henrique May 31, 2002, 08:06 AM Senegal!! Letīs celebrate!! Suppersalmon May 31, 2002, 08:12 AM May be an England senegal 2nd Round :D philippe May 31, 2002, 08:34 AM oh that is bad news for me....:(i support 3 teams 1)belgium(becuase its my country) 2)france(their are our neighbour) 3)croatia(they kicked our butt) King of England May 31, 2002, 10:41 AM Great news! I didn't see it cuz i got finals and I need my sleep. (it was on at 4:30am!) but amazing, I was totally shocked at the result. Good for Senegal, that has got to be the best first ever world cup game for a starting team! If they can beat france, then anything is possible... Smash May 31, 2002, 12:52 PM I'm sure France will "wake up" now but what a great day for Senegal.David has slain Goliath again.Actually, more like a flea on David has slain Goliath :) Matrix May 31, 2002, 02:21 PM I'm having a poll with 11 other members of my family and we all predicted France would win. We still have zero points. And I hope that they will make up to it in the poule so that I don't miss too many points. Since Holland isn't in, all I care about is the toto. Lajf May 31, 2002, 03:13 PM I think it was sad to see Boupa Diop destroying Senegals victory by spiting Vieira in his face. animepornstar May 31, 2002, 03:22 PM Originally posted by Lajf I think it was sad to see Boupa Diop destroying Senegals victory by spiting Vieira in his face. i didnīt see that, but itīs very sad if he did it. Shabbaman Jun 03, 2002, 02:46 AM Unbelievable? I think not. It is apparent that France is nothing more but a mediocre team. It's defence is aged, i.e. weak and slow instead of experienced. This was shown very well in the match against Senegal, a team luring for the counter. Diouf is very fast, and they knew that: all Senegalian players play in the French league. Lemere substituted awfully: in the end, the French played a 4-2-4 system. How can you possibly win a game like that? I think that the French are tactically very strong and are able to dominate other teams who don't play on the counter, but I am afraid that Lemere will spoil the whole thing. |
