Having just won Egypt's Historical Victory I thought I'd like to say a few things about the AIs' performance.

Barbs/ICs - Hattusas (Barbarian) was razed by the ICs on the opening turns of the 2nd millenium BC.

China - Not much I remember.

India - Uninteresting.

Babylonia - They once controlled a bunch of independent cities, but then those cities rebelled and eventually captured Babylon itself in the 9th century BC. Then the Babylonians, with their capital gone, collapsed into oblivion.

Greece - They didn't build their 2nd city (Byzantion) until AD years.

Persia - They controlled a formerly independent city in Central Asia and Babylon when I won at their extent. They played a little better.

Carthage - I remember once seeing one of their cities being defended by only 4 mercenaries. That was a sight.

Rome - Their empire extended from Sicily to the northern shores of the Adriatic Sea at its greatest extent. Disappointing.

Japan - They somehow converted to Taoism after I won! WTF?

Ethiopia - Nothing but a blight on my empire from the minute they spawned. Their 2nd city (Bonga) was occupied by a Native Impi for one turn!

Maya - Zzzzzzz...

More to come...

France - Why does France spawn in 750 AD? The traditional founding date for France is considered to be 509 AD.

Japan - Japan's final deadline for Historical Victory is 1850 AD. I think an additional objective should be introduced here; end within the top 3 in GNP in 2000 or 1990.

Portugal - I don't understand why they don't have to circumnavigate the Earth while Greece, Carthage, and England do have that objective.

More to come on this post soon...

I think that at that time the americans forced the japanese market open with warships. Ending their isolation.
