I searched but didn't see this one so sorry if this is a duplicate.

I have two saved games of my problem. I was in the 30,000s of gold and I went to war with an income of around 900 gold a turn. Never worried about money so I ignored it. Many turns later I notice I have about 1100 gold left with the income of 900 or so. The next turn I have 200 gold with the same income. Then around 82. Then 600. Then 1100 or so. Then 800. Then 200 and so on so on each turn. I checked my finance page and sure enough I am supposed be earning 900 or so each turn. I changed my spending up and down, but once again I earned for a turn then went almost broke. Same thing after reloading the save games.

Am I missing something?

Yep, youve let your goveners Rush Build (Possibly), they go
"Oh look 30,000gps, lets build this here temple in one turn", they tend to only do it if they have half the production left, so if you have captured cities with poor social infrastruture, but highish production, then the Gov can rush things every few turns. Have a few like that, and woops skint

Could be. I only have a couple of cities on automatic, but I will load up the saves and play with that. Thanks.
