View Full Version : Can You Make It?
Whitefire Aug 13, 2007, 08:01 PM Date: Saturday, August 25th
Start Time: 7am PST (-8 GMT)
We only 4 to start with, with more joining as we progress. So no worries if you need to come later! You'll need to contact me via AIM (tactic9) or MSM (tactic9@hotmail.com) on the day. It would also be nice if the 3 other starters could show up 15-30 minutes early.
RFC MP: Alpha Build (http://rhyesciv.uw.hu/rfcmp028.zip)
Install the file in your BTS/Mods folder just like every other mod. Make sure you have the 3.03 patch installed.
Kweeky Aug 13, 2007, 08:12 PM What are we attending? :P
Riker Aug 13, 2007, 08:17 PM It's that what I think?
Jaguar Aug 13, 2007, 10:34 PM I can't think of any sort of Civ-related thing that would start with 4 players, but have more as the game progresses. None at all. :cute:
notger Aug 14, 2007, 04:02 AM So what is this about? And where?
Hitti-Litti Aug 14, 2007, 09:30 AM How long will the sessions be?
Quantumf8 Aug 14, 2007, 11:19 AM What is this?
Whitefire Aug 14, 2007, 11:51 AM What is this?
A surprise!
How long will the sessions be?
All day long.
Hitti-Litti Aug 14, 2007, 11:56 AM Nooo, I can't be on computer the whole day. But I'm interested to read how the game went.
Whitefire Aug 14, 2007, 12:43 PM What game?
Hitti-Litti Aug 14, 2007, 12:56 PM I'll answer through your quote:
A surprise!
Śmarth Aug 14, 2007, 01:19 PM Wtf are you talking about?
The M'Hael Aug 14, 2007, 01:59 PM I think it is an online version of RFC?
That would be sweet. I wouldn't be able to attend, but I would definitely like to read about every detail of it! Where's my Scribes!
Kweeky Aug 14, 2007, 03:12 PM Online RFC, that would be the day ;D
If it is, count me in for some minor nation :D
Quantumf8 Aug 14, 2007, 04:49 PM oh, a game, sure I can make this, count me in for turks or portuguese I guess, although those are a bit of a late start civ-wise, anyways I live in PST, so I can probably pull this off! I'll try and contact you via MSN or AIM

Anyone think this is what it is?
rishubhav Aug 16, 2007, 07:45 PM If its a game, it will be with patch 3.03 right?
Jet Aug 17, 2007, 01:49 AM 16 hour Poland debate?
YES
By which I mean probably. I can't responsibly commit until around Wednesday before. But just to keep the momentum going here.
Quantumf8 Aug 19, 2007, 12:58 AM so what was this?
mitsho Aug 19, 2007, 04:53 AM we'll see (after all, it's saturday evening/night ;)).
Whitefire Aug 19, 2007, 11:58 AM Saturday, August 25th
I'm glad neither of you said you could come. ;)
Quantumf8 Aug 19, 2007, 07:02 PM come to what? and I play the "stupid american" card in my favor >_>
say1988 Aug 19, 2007, 07:51 PM Logic dictates that this is a certain thing.
Logic being, what connected to RFC starts with 4 people and has more added in as you go?
Whitefire Aug 19, 2007, 10:20 PM Ssshh, don't confuse the stupid American with logic.
ThePhiller Aug 22, 2007, 02:03 AM Well, I'd like to see how this ends up working out, maybe next time;
I plan on being hung over all day saturday
Whitefire Aug 22, 2007, 11:00 AM Alright, a semi-emergency.
Yeah yeah, you guys guessed what it is. Due to a lot of changes (back to school), I haven't had anyone to try the Alpha build. As far as I know, the mod won't even load, let alone run when more connect. So, I need someone to talk to me after 5pm PST either contacts supplied above so we can make sure this works before Saturday.
And it has to be tonight, because I've got an impromptu business trip up to San Francisco tomorrow and Friday, meaning I'll get back home about 5 hours before we're supposed to start on Saturday. It would help alot to debug tonight instead of Saturday ^_^.
Sette7 Aug 22, 2007, 12:05 PM So if I've done my math correct, it's 16 CET on saturday? :crazyeye:
rishubhav Aug 22, 2007, 12:20 PM I should be able to help
Whitefire Aug 22, 2007, 01:22 PM So if I've done my math correct, it's 16 CET on saturday? :crazyeye:
Yes. (10 char)
Whitefire Aug 22, 2007, 06:47 PM I should be able to help
Whenever you're online, I'm at home.
a1Basco Aug 22, 2007, 07:59 PM Alright, a semi-emergency.
Yeah yeah, you guys guessed what it is.
Actually it was I, a stupid American who guessed what it was. >.>
Quantumf8 Aug 23, 2007, 04:30 AM Viva Estupidio! Alas, my spanish is le terrible, as is my french.. and most languages on the face of the earth that don't begin with Eng (Aside from N!guni, I don't speak a lick =P)
Anyways, i can guess that this is a game now, and I've tried to contact you via AIM, but I can't seem to get a hold of you, should I just send you a PM?
Jet Aug 23, 2007, 04:51 AM Confirmed for Saturday. I'll check in at 6:30am PST for a 3000 BC start.
rishubhav Aug 23, 2007, 07:01 AM The test last night worked quite well indeed...
Quantumf8 Aug 24, 2007, 12:06 AM I can definitely be there just let me know how I can contact you?
Whitefire Aug 25, 2007, 01:47 AM 8 hour reminder. Link in the OP.
Śmarth Aug 25, 2007, 08:22 AM I'd definitely like to play, I just added you on MSN now. Kudos for getting a mp version together btw.
coko Aug 25, 2007, 08:38 AM Yeah, added you to msn, I think I'm free this afternoon and have nothing else to do! Sounds fun. :)
Whitefire Aug 25, 2007, 08:41 AM I'd definitely like to play, I just added you on MSN now. Kudos for getting a mp version together btw.
That was pretty much all Rhye's doing.
EDIT: I rolled out of bed 10 minutes late. We have 1 slot open for the 3000BC start, once it's filled, we'll get started.
Whitefire Aug 25, 2007, 02:14 PM Thank you guys for coming! The 3000BC game was actually the longest we've ever played without an OOS. And we were able to find several minor issues to clean up. Hopefully Rhye can figure them out once he's back.
Quantumf8 Aug 25, 2007, 03:16 PM it's already over? damn, I missed it then.
Hitti-Litti Aug 26, 2007, 05:03 AM Please, tell us what happened? Which was which civ, who conquered everything in sight, who was the sneakiest diplomat, who shot JFK?
Jet Aug 26, 2007, 11:50 AM It was fun but you didn't miss that much. It was more about testing than epic storytelling. I don't think there was much player on player action - there were some wars but mostly those occurred against AIs after players had dropped out. The first game was 5-6 people 3000 BC - 800 AD 4 hours and another for testing purposes was 3-4 people 800 BC - 800 AD 2 hours.
Phallus Aug 27, 2007, 11:40 AM Sounds wonderful, but I'm not much of a fighter. :(
Whitefire Aug 27, 2007, 11:49 AM Rhye will (hopefully) fix the issues we found. Can anyone make it next Saturday for another big test?
Sette7 Aug 27, 2007, 02:26 PM I can be there around 16cet.
coko Aug 27, 2007, 03:42 PM I'm moving to another country...which makes it difficult, sorry I had to drop out was heading into town...MP takes soo long! Plus things kept dying! Stupid barbs.
onedreamer Sep 01, 2007, 05:40 AM where can we post bugs ? I can test this pretty well as I play with my wife.
first GA requires 2 GP instead of 1.
memdee Sep 01, 2007, 06:20 AM ...which is not a bug ;)
onedreamer Sep 01, 2007, 11:34 AM it is a bug, since this version is for BtS, and RFC BtS doesn't work like that.
On another note, cities flip to spawning civs without asking and that I can understand (OOS problems), but maybe they shouldn't if you preemptly declare war ? Also my Babylonian city in Syria flipped to Arabia (which I don't remember happening in SP, and looks a bit far from the arabian area IMHO), and buildings and especially wonders I had built in it disappeared, is this normal ?
LuKo Sep 01, 2007, 01:38 PM it is a bug, since this version is for BtS, and RFC BtS doesn't work like that.
It's intended. Rhye changed it in a patch.
onedreamer Sep 02, 2007, 07:28 AM is it in the last version download link ?
What about buildings and wonders disappearing though ?
LuKo Sep 02, 2007, 10:53 AM is it in the last version download link ?
Of course!
What about buildings and wonders disappearing though ?
I don't know what you mean.
onedreamer Sep 03, 2007, 09:13 AM I don't know what you mean.
you would know by reading the second part of the post you replied to :mischief:
The 600 AD start goes OOS very often (for example when new civs are born). It doesn't happen with the 3000 BC one.
LuKo Sep 03, 2007, 10:01 AM OK. It disappeared or get razed (so you can't build it again)? Check the last version- destroying Wonders was fixed many times ;)
onedreamer Sep 03, 2007, 10:47 AM I'm talking about the MP version in this thread Luko, first post. As I have described, As-Sur flipped from Babylon to Arabia due to the spawn script, and all buildings and Wonders inside it disappeared. I wanted to know if this is normal, as I don't recall seeing it in the single player version.
LuKo Sep 03, 2007, 10:52 AM It's probably bug. If you were playing MP game made on oldest patch maybe that's the reason.
onedreamer Sep 03, 2007, 11:02 AM most probably. I wonder if it will ever be updated.
Whitefire Sep 04, 2007, 07:54 PM It's probably bug. If you were playing MP game made on oldest patch maybe that's the reason.
What patch?
LuKo Sep 05, 2007, 08:03 AM Without patch :P
Corm Sep 05, 2007, 08:53 AM RFC MP: Alpha Build (http://rhyesciv.uw.hu/rfcmp028.zip)
It clearly says RFC MP: Alpha Build and since MP normally stands for Multi Player I reckon you could make a fairly accurate guess as to what you would be attending. Might be wrong but that's my bet.
memdee Sep 05, 2007, 09:16 AM The link wasn't there at the time.
Whitefire Sep 07, 2007, 12:50 PM We think we fixed the post 600AD OOS frequency. Onedreamer, do you have a save the turn before you took a city that lost wonders? Without the save, we can't figure out what the problem might be.
