View Full Version : LM Terrain Q
Ozymandias Aug 14, 2007, 09:05 AM How does the LM terrain naming convention work in Conquests? - Specifically, I'd like to add LM Hills (that one looks easy enough), LM Mountains, and LM Forest - for this last, I'd like to separate the conifers into LM Terrain, which will help keep city placement more accurate on a real-world map. How would I go about performing that last one?
Thanks In Advance,
Oz
Yoda Power Aug 14, 2007, 09:09 AM You add the name in the editor under terrain. I'm not sure I understand the last part.

Hi Yoda,
I want to differentiate coniferous and deciduous forests (pine trees from broadeaf) and have the pine forests provide shields but no food.
Also, the names used for the art files are cryptic, as in "lwCSO.pcx". Along with the tree-splitting, I need to get at LM Mountains and Hills. Is there a convention I need to use, or (as you say, in the editor) just add, e.g., LM_Desert?
Thanks,
Oz
Yoda Power Aug 14, 2007, 11:04 AM If you want a "Pine Forest" as a specific terrain here is what you do.
Rename LMForest to Pine Forest.
Open the LMForets graphics and paste the Pine graphic over the old ones.
Voila.
Derf Aug 14, 2007, 11:12 AM If I remember rightly, wasn't there a problem with some LM terrains not being available from the editor?
Varlin Saliptor Aug 14, 2007, 11:22 AM Yes. However, there was a hack for that:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=232267
it allows the use of the landmark terrains of EVERY terrain.
In answer to Oz, you'll just need to edit LMForests and Forests so that LM forests has only pine forests, and Forests has only regular forests.

kulade Aug 14, 2007, 02:05 PM Well, while we're on the subject, does anyone know how to make Civilopedia entries for LMs? Is that possible?
Yoda Power Aug 14, 2007, 02:59 PM Look in the editor, there is a civilopedia entry just below the name. ;)
Derf Aug 14, 2007, 03:02 PM I never managed to get even the normal LM civilopedia to show up
Varlin Saliptor Aug 14, 2007, 03:09 PM I don't think they work right.
kulade Aug 14, 2007, 03:26 PM I don't think you can add entries to terrain, only change the referenced ones...
