how do you destroy your improvements when you get bloom and want to replace the farms with forest cottages?

Any non recon military unit can pillage inside your borders. You don't get any income from it. I also belive you cannot pillage roads in your territory.

I also belive you cannot pillage roads in your territory. You're right. I discovered that fact in a four-player mp game in which everyone but me had the Raider trait.

I was like "what the hey? I can't destroy my own roads?! Lots of sinister laughing followed that comment and it was all the answer I needed! Free unsolicited strategy tip: Try to limit your road construction if you're playing against civ leaders who have the Raider trait. :goodjob:

yes, although you still need one road for the trading network

That's why I advised limited road construction. ;)

Using available waterways is useful in reducing road construction. If a resource is one tile from a river, you only need one road to connect it to the river, and every tile adjacent to it.

yes, waterways are the best way.
also sometimes roads to outposts. it's a pity bloom doesn't work in neutral teritory linking your outposts, and walking on grassland seems far too slow for the elves.

Beware of the elves/dwarves natural bonuses, too. Amelanchier is Raider/Elf, so if forested a minimum, your home is his home no matter what...

Also, obviously, great way to play guerilla tactics in hilly/forested terrains both in defensive and offensive warfare.

yes i know exactly, as I am Amelanchier. and it's nasty! forest raider lets you roam freely in their terian, pillage away, then find some uncut forest to end your turn in(nice movement+defence bonus), take along a congerer to cast guardian vines and you're safe ready for the next turn of rampid pillaging. Mwahahaha!

normally i'm not a big fan of pilaging as i normally don't fight wars of atribution, i'm normally in for the cities and a quick kill, but as elves i don't need those cottages anyway as i'll be clearing it for the bloom, so this is the first time i've pillaged the cottages, lots of cash!!

i just wish my warewolf army could also use the forest
