View Full Version : A person in history...
Flatlander Fox Jun 01, 2002, 02:15 PM A little game I have been thinking of, maybe it'll work, maybe it won't.
Give three clues to one particular person in history, and the poster who correctly guesses who that person is then posts another person/question. No search engines allowed!
1. Ogala Souix Chief present at Fetterman's Massacre AND Little Bighorn.
2. Famous Quote: "My lands are where my dead lie buried"
3. Killed at Camp Robinson, Nebraska in Sep. 1877.
An easy one for sure, but we have to start somewhere.:)
Upon Edit: Clarified Rules!
Toasty Jun 01, 2002, 02:35 PM 1. Sitting bull
2. Crazy Horse
3. General Custer(?)
Flatlander Fox Jun 01, 2002, 02:37 PM It's only ONE guy, not three!:)
Which one of those does all three clues pertain to?

This should answer all three questions.
philippe Jun 01, 2002, 06:07 PM is it geronimo?
Flatlander Fox Jun 01, 2002, 07:58 PM You got it Xiaho, go ahead with your question!:)

Flatlander Fox Jun 01, 2002, 10:48 PM Alexander Hamilton!
A good one actually...
He was the reason they put in the citizen requirement for the presidency. (Or it's rumored to be)
1. A cattle rancher in the Dakota territority in the mid 1880's.

Flatlander Fox Jun 02, 2002, 06:45 AM You got it Stefan.
I tried to make it difficult to use a search engine, as to increase the difficulty.:satan:
Your turn!

Your turn! You mean we can look up the answer on the Net? That doesn't seem fair; we shld limit it to just our memory to make it more challenging. :)
Flatlander Fox Jun 02, 2002, 07:12 AM I agree KD, but in order to stop a search engine, you have to be somewhat vague...
And people WILL use them unfortunately anyway...:(

And people WILL use them unfortunately anyway...:( We have a core of regular people here who can be trusted not to. :) If you'd put it in the rules portion. I hope so anyway.
The person who cheats (and is found out) will just have that lower a standing in my book.
Thuloid Jun 04, 2002, 11:52 PM 1.Born in what is now Belgium in 1340
2.father of first Lancaster king of England
3.Patron of Geoffrey Chaucer
Ozz Jun 05, 2002, 09:31 AM William of Orange
Thuloid Jun 05, 2002, 12:02 PM not quite. Think earlier & more English.
Ozz Jun 05, 2002, 01:11 PM Richmond
This is hard without references, but it is more fun :)
I think we'll see more guessing.
Thuloid Jun 05, 2002, 08:43 PM nope. Anyway, even if you were right, I'd ask you to be more specific. At this point, you could say 'Lancaster' and be technically correct (but there's a much better answer).
bigfatron Jun 06, 2002, 05:35 AM John of Gaunt?
philippe Jun 06, 2002, 08:51 AM goerge lancaster?
Ozz Jun 06, 2002, 09:06 AM The Black Prince
Thuloid Jun 06, 2002, 11:16 PM bigfatron is correct. Good guess.
John of 'Gaunt' because he was born in Ghent. It was a base of operations for Edward 3 the revenge of Edward during the 100 or so years war.
bigfatron Jun 10, 2002, 05:40 AM 1 Heir to the English throne
2 Died aged 19 yrs
3 His younger brother inherited and then lost the throne.
Thuloid Jun 10, 2002, 04:06 PM Charles I's older brother?
Don't remember the name...
Thuloid Jun 10, 2002, 04:06 PM I think it was Vinny.
starlifter Jun 10, 2002, 07:40 PM LOL, I just read this thread and I'm pretty familiar with that era of histroy, still would have missed it. Oh well. :crazyeye:

You're right, but the name's not Vinny....
He was meant to represent James I/VI's claim to the throne and was therefore brought up a strict protestant and named for his most famous great grandfather (hint!)
Simon Darkshade Jun 11, 2002, 08:24 AM That would be Henry Frederick Stuart, would it not? Died in 1612.
Thuloid Jun 11, 2002, 11:49 AM Nope. Still certain it was Vinny. That or Ethel.
Simon Darkshade Jun 11, 2002, 12:48 PM I am utterly certain that there were none of that name amongst the offspring of King James, and equally certain that his firstborn was Henry Frederick Stuart.
Silence Jun 12, 2002, 03:24 AM Damn, I reach the end of the thread and find that the question has been answered.
However I don't believe young Henry made it to his nineteeth birthday, he was born in 1594 and died in 1612, thus he would have been seventeen or eighteen.
Sadly my memory does not include the exact date of his birth, much as I would like be as definite as Darkshade.
bigfatron Jun 13, 2002, 10:24 AM I had his birth date as 1593 but, what the heck, Darkshade is right. Over to you, herr fuhrer....
