View Full Version : Counting problem

In severel fora I have noticed that the number of views is lower (sometimes it's even zero) as the number of replies.
So I guess the number of views aren't counted correctly.

For example I just saw the thread "Login Problem" in this forum with 1 reply and 0 views. And I'm quite sure I have viewed that thread.

I have noticed this also. I think GenghisK brought this problem up before but I don't know if there was a resolution.

There are ways of endering a thread, which don't add to the counter. I think if you use a link from another thread, then it does not count the view...

I see two new threads in this forum alone that have a view count of 0 even though there have been multiple posts.....is this a prelude to downtime!?!?!??

I believe this this is not the only problem at the moment.
I also didn't receive an E-mail that there was a reply to my first post in this thread.
And normally I do receive such an E-mail.

Otherwise, we better keep our fingers crossed..... Just came back fr the weekend and can't deal with a forums downtime. Hey, why didn't it go down during my absence? :D :p

Knight- Dragon,

Nice joke, but I haven't done that :) .
And I'm still receiving E-mail notifications for other threads I have posted in.

Anyway I second your hope it's not a prelude that the forum will be going down.

Just one thing, I noticed that many of the posts transferred in from the old uBB boards say 0 views and have several replies simply because they don't have any replies on vB yet.

I've had email notification thing too. It's kind of sporadic. Some times I get an email, other times not, and I have email notification enabled (and I've never turned it off.)

The last time we had this counter problem was so long ago. I don't remember how to fix the problem anymore. :o

Going to vB's help forum and do a search...

Another kind of problem. TF is civfanatics.net down? Just asking because the uploads isn't working, uploaded pics don't show, and if you type in www.civfanatics.net there is no response. Just asking. Didn't think civfanatics.net crashed.

EDIT: Works now

I also thought Civfanatics.com and Civfanatics.net were on the same server. But, .com works and .net doesn't.....?

We probably will do a forum upgrade real soon (tonight if Telefragged admin has time). Telefragged upgraded the server's PHP to 4.2 and the vB version we are using has some incompatibilities with 4.2.
