as in turn based, turnless, simultaneous turns etc

i get turn based and hot seat, but the others i'm not sure how they would work

Simultaneous is most popular on-line, its civ in real time, everyone plays his turn and waits for others to finish the turn they are on, meaning you move your units at the same time in the current turn as everyone else. You need patch 1.22 for conquests expansion to play online.
