Who do you think will finish top scorer? I'd say Christian Vieri, or if he fails Francesco Totti. Because Italy are in the "easier" half of the competition.

Jon Dahl Tomasson and Miroslav Klose got off to a good start, with two and three goals respectively. I wouldn't write off Gabriel Batistuta, Ronaldo, or Ronaldinho yet either.

Whoever faces the Saudis has a head start. :p

Looks like I'm on to a winner with Vieri. I knew I should have gone to the bookies.

I did pick Vieri in another world cup competition and it looks like he could well be the top goal scorer.

It has to be Veiri.

I think so too. There are just four things that can prevent it:
1. He get's injured - can always happen
2. Italy gets eliminated quite early - unlikely
3. Trapattoni exchanges him with Inzaghi - the most likely one of the three :D
4. The Italian way of playing football gets even more boring and they decide to stay in their own half completely after scoring the first goal

Never thought of that one.

Does anybody have any different ideas. It's hardly an argument of rational discussion if we all agree from the start.:(

Ronaldo has a good chance considering that Brazil should have two huge victories against China and Costa Rica.

A different vote? Hmm... Let's say Italy gets upset before the semis, and only wins 1-0 up to that point. No Vieri. How about Batistuta? Or maybe England will advance far, riding on somebody's shooting...
