Hello,

I've got a big problem with a recent pruchase. I finally got enough money to but both Civ IV and Beyond the Sword together at an EB I frequent regularly. I also received a new laptop 5 months ago and it came with Windows Vista.

After installing both Civ IV and BtS, I tried to open Civ IV and a window came up saying there were compatibility problems and the game might not work. Bypassing them I tried to play anyways. Another message saying that the game had stopped working came up and I can't get the thing to start at all.

I know it can be played with Vista, but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Does the error give you any specifics?
Also try downloading patch 3.03 from the Firaxis Website or here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=12) it does have its own issues but supposedly solves some for Vista users...

Argh, I feel like an idiot. I just restarted my computer (it's one of those ones that can stay on as long as you want and just go into standby) and after I did all the patch effects kicked in and I got it working fine.
