I want to get rid of nukes and global warming.

For those wondering why...
1. I like playing marathon games and particularly enjoy the late game with no time limits. I tend to want to build a massive home protection army and then a massive expansion army to unleash on the rest of the world. By the time this happens, I'm staring at nothing but desert. Yes, I realize this is not the most intelligent way to play but it's what I enjoy.
2. Whenever I seem to get late game it seems my entire landmasses quickly turn into desert without me launching any nukes of my own or having any pollution from buildings. It's driving me crazy and takes the fun out of what I like to do in games.
3. Nukes seem to take too much strategy out of the armies that I enjoy building. I like to have highly specialized units mixed with a lot of unit balance. Sure I understand not the best way to play but it's what I enjoy. The nukes seem to take most of the strategy out of it and frankly I just hate them altogether.

So...I also know nothing about modding but I figure it shouldn't be too hard to do. Can anyone give me some simple step-by-step instructions? It would be greatly appreciated.

Umm,

1- Welcome to the forums!
2- I don't know much about modding, but you should pretty easily be able to take Nukes out of the game by editing the XML files.

First... welcome to the forums :goodjob:  :worship: :woohoo: [party] :band:

And second, go into the BTS folder into assets (I think) and find the XML file, find the global warming modifier. It will be 20, I changed mine to 5. Below that is the terrain the global warming changes stuff into. I made it coast to give the effect of the seas rising. Unfortunatley it doesnt swallow cities....

Well I've been coming to this site since back in the civ2 days but I forgot my old login so I've just been lurking. Thx for the welcome and the replies though and wish me luck :crazyeye:

It would be pretty cool if someone could figure a way out where preserving forests counteracted global warming.

So, for removing the nukes...just delete the files related to them I"m guessing?

I would like to create a special aircraft carrier that can launch paratrooper and carrier-based bombers (new less powerful unit). Does anyone know how to enable airdrop from a ship?

Anyone know if you just turn up the cost to build one by a ton if the cpu will still try and build them?
