Being from Dallas, I am a huge Brett Hull fan so I would not mind him winning another cup. But I would not mind "Hockey Town" getting a kick in the pants from the lowly Hurricanes.

View Full Version : Anyone else want Red Wings to loose? donarumo Jun 04, 2002, 10:20 AM Being from Dallas, I am a huge Brett Hull fan so I would not mind him winning another cup. Just have to despise the Wings. I was rooting for the Avs in that whole series, and never worked. Oh yeah, NO BELFOUR! Thankfully he's gone now from Dallas. floppa21 Jun 04, 2002, 01:45 PM Yah I like it when Detroit loses. Biggest bandwagon team in any sport I know of. Sold out a whole 4 games in a row at home! BUT, they have a player or two who are worthy of another Stanley Cup. Carolina Has some good players who deserve another or their first Cup but chances are slim to nil. De Lorimier Jun 04, 2002, 06:52 PM I really want the Whalers...huh...the "Canes" to win the cup but, let's face it, they have no chance. Detroit's too strong in every aspect: Bowman behind the bench, Hasek between the pipes, Lidstron, Chelios, Duchesne, Olausson and the others on defense, Shanahan, Yzerman, Robitaille, Hull, Fedorov, Larionov, Draper, Maltby, McCarthy and Holmstrom just to name a few on offense. This team is packed! Then again, who tought the Patriots would beat the Rams in last year Superbowl? Carolina's got a great coach in Paul Maurice, a very good (not great but still) goalie in Arturs Irbe, a good solid defense with Sean Hill, Wesley, Malik, Ward, Hedican and Tanabe and a great offense with Francis, O'Neil, Brind'Amour, Battaglia, Cole, Kapanene, Gélinas, Vasicek...etc. I'm watching the game as I write this and it's 2-2...Go Canes!!! I really wish the Canes win so the Wings from "Hockey town" realize they can't buy the Cup. ;) P.S. I really hate it when Detroit is called "Hockey town". Being from Montréal I consider this as an insult. The Canadiens won 24 Stanley Cup! :goodjob: The Wings 9  ! Franklyn Jun 04, 2002, 08:10 PM game 1 score: after regulation, it's tied 2-all. edit: GAME OVER, sports fans. Canes score a minute into overtime to win 3-2. Hockeytown? It's in Raleigh, N.C. tonight. (Sorry -- gotta gloat while I can.) donarumo Jun 04, 2002, 09:15 PM Did you like the two or three minutes espn showed of the defeated Detroit fans? Yeah, can't believe the Canes pulled it off in OT. It looked like Detroit simply wasn't trying enough. Maybe, if the Red Wings are over confident, then N.C can perform a sneak attack. Detroit will probably come out with full steam for game 2 though. Oh well. Smash Jun 04, 2002, 09:30 PM OT win for the Canes. I don't necessarily want Detroit to lose, but see the Canes do well.None of the hockey pundits have given them any chance at all.But strange things happen in playoffs and the games must be played. Yes they should loose.Everybody knows it.Everybody cept the Canes... jiml_63 Jun 05, 2002, 03:22 AM Did anyone see the headline in the Dtroit Free Press? Hockeytown vs. Opie and Aunt Bee    For those of you who don't know, Opie and Aunt Bee are characters from a TV show called "The Andy Griffith Show". It was based on a small hick town in NC.... floppa21 Jun 05, 2002, 06:30 AM I agree Detroit tries to BUY the Cup every year. As for "Hockey Town", how sold out was their arena when they weren't so hot. They get to the Finals a few years ago and there's a Wings fan in every corner of every city? "Bandwagon Team of the Year!!!" Is there an ESPY like that? Carolina plays the trap. Detroit has trouble against the trap. Remember how they were supposed to trounce the Devils and they got swept for the Cup? Just wonder if Carolina can stay opportunistic on chances and PUT IT IN THE NET when the chances do come... In Colorado, hopin like a mother! ryans Jun 07, 2002, 08:22 AM The red wings always try to buy the cup so i hope the lose. I hate hasek and hull. (Hull's a traitor) i dont like the canes either but they beat the leafs so i respect them and their style of play. I hope they lose cause i wanna see if all those bandwagon guys jump on carolina, ive been a leaf fan since i was born even when they were like last place and i cant understand how u can just change sides u know. francis for conn smythe DarthVeda Jun 07, 2002, 06:44 PM GO WINGS! SKILORD Jun 09, 2002, 03:54 AM GO Hurricanes! (SKILORD lives in NC) CornMaster Jun 09, 2002, 05:52 AM Originally posted by ryans The red wings always try to buy the cup Well...didn't they go 55 years without a cup??? Now they want every one. What's wrong with that. ;) And someone made a comment about football. It easy for the underdogs to win one game.....but the stronger team would prevail in a series....the Patiorts would have won in 5. ;) Traquenard-fx Jun 09, 2002, 10:58 AM Originally posted by ryans The red wings always try to buy the cup so i hope the lose. I HATE DETROIT!!!!:o DarthVeda Jun 10, 2002, 11:59 PM Roy ate it.. ha ha ha. He'd better control that cocky attitude next season or he'll give up 10 more goals during the playoffs :) 3-1 in the series going into Detroit... the Canes are going to be hard pressed to win 3 games in a row. Adebisi Jun 11, 2002, 01:33 AM I want Carolina to win. Franklyn Jun 11, 2002, 06:58 AM After 3 OTs the other night, I thought the old men Wings would be dead tired. Instead, they came out and looked great. So much for wishful thinking. insurgent Jun 11, 2002, 07:13 AM I dunno, shure, let 'em lose! Those bastards (not knowing at all what I'm talking about)... |
