The third match in Group C may already decide parts of the group.
Of course only if Germany wins it. :D
What are your thoughts and predictions about the match?

I hope Ireland's out of the race for the group winner tomorrow - not that I had any bad feeling about the nice green Island though...

EDIT: It's Group E, for some reason I put C - open for psychological interpretation

Oh no ... . .. of course not .. :)
(It's group E, not C)

Anyway CRASH AND BURN GERMAN SCUM :aargh3: :sniper:

:p

It's great in this country now after Cameroon. The optimism we have now directly contradicts the pessimism before Cameroon. :king: :goodjob:

:D

So tomorrow it will be obvious that it was just an exception.
At least unless Ireland's team somehow manages to destroy the game. :p

Yes that pessimism before the Cameroon game will clearly be shown to be an exception :p

We'll see. ;)

It will be a fight game, so both teams can win but I think the German one is better overall.

Maybe Ireland wins, I hope not, but there would be a good part in it as Ireland would most likely advance then. Apart from tomorrow I wouldn't have a problem with that. Neither with Cameroon though...

I think it will be a 1-1 draw so there...:p

oh, if the US can beat Portugal, then surely Ireland can beat Germany. But I think it will be 2 - 1 for Germany

normally this will be an easy win for Germany (4-0, 5-0), if they play in the same disciplined way as they did last Saturday.
But of course upsets aren't impossible.

Germany - Ireland 1-1

Again a surprising result in this tournament.

Clearly KaeptnOvi and AVN know nothing.

An easy win for Germany, 4-0, 5-0? Have you a clue about anything???

We thouroughly deserved that point, the Germans showed themselves to be a fraction of past German teams, by refusing to play. The game was a VERY poor game, but that was the Germans fault for refusing to play. They just sat back like the Italians. Did anybody seriously believe you could judge the Germans by the Saudi game??? That is the impression I got from AVN, KaeptnOvi. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Germany won 8-0 in that game because the Saudis played woefully, not because the Germans were world class.

1 - 1. Ireland equalized almost in the last minute. You'll have to give it to them - they're persistent. :goodjob:

It was indeed a poor game. Our team should have continued playing offensive after the goal but for some stupid reason they didn't. So the Irish deserved the point for their fighting, although they hadn't many chances.

Of course you can't expect an 8-0 everytime. But the team is not that bad, they just need to play offensive. That was obvious up to the 1-0 by Klose. I'm quite sure that we would have won the match if that would have been continued and it would definetely have been a better game for a neutral observer.

Anyway, although they don't play really exciting either, Ireland deserved the two draws and is almost n the second round now.
So congratulations! :goodjob:

The Germans are a good team, but they are not the world class team they are often mistaken for.

This group is going to be tough now. I reckon Ireland'll go out on goal difference - Cameroon will beat the Saudis with more goals than the Irish and Cameroon will draw Germany.

Voila - three teams on five points.

Keep going, Ireland!

I am delighted with this result as it must put Ireland as favourites for the second group place in the next round. I doubt that Germany will let Cameroon get away with a draw but even if they do then it will come down to how badly Ireland and Cameroon can beat the Saudis. I hope that the group isn't decided on goal difference so want the Germans to beat Cameroon.
This is brilliant! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I am of course English and am supporting my home country in this World Cup but this Irish side is giving the Vs to the prima donna Roy Keane and proving that they are capable of performing on their own merits and not as a foil to his enormous ego. Well done lads! :goodjob:

Agreed, but who is a world class team these days?
France?
Portugal???

Football has become different, many teams are quite equally strong today. Including such former "underdogs" as Ireland and South Korea.

no Portugal aren't the world class team they were. I think they lack drive and determination as they showed today. Figo in particular is someone who tends to stop playing if his team is playing poorly.
France are world class, Argentina are world class and Italy are world class. Brazil may yet show themselves to be world class if they can get some stability.

Of the 8 favourite teams Argentina, Italy, England, Germany, France, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Germany is the one with least world class players, although I'll admit this is because they are all injured. Ballack, their best player; I didn't see him once in the game, apart from when he set up the goal.

Actually Kahn (one of Germanys world class players remaining in the squad) did play superbly when he was called upon, but this obviusly won't reflect well on the Germans determination to play.

One thing was very clear after this game, Oliver Kahn is the best goalkeeper in the world.
