Just got of a game were my aircraft carriers were sunk by a transport (of all units) becuase the stealth destroyer could not defend.

what.the.hell. Upgrade from regular destroyers to what? something WORSE? the way I see it is that the stealth destroyer cannot be seen by anything other than a stealth destroyer, and so acts like a submarine - when a unit moves into its square, it simply jumps to an adjacent one. Leaving Carriers and Transports vunerable to everything.

Ontop of this, stealth destroyers cannot detect submarines. Which means a submarine, which cant see a stealth destroyer, can pick off naval units with ease.

I hear ya!

Lost an entire stack of transports (mostly killed by other transports) right out from under their stealth destroyer escort!

It's not a bug, it's feature.

Unfortunately in thes case. Stealth Destroyers are broken by design and i really hope this 'Feature' will be adressed by Firaxis soon.

Within the Games mechanics, Stealth is the same, as Sub's invisibility - just with other Units being able to detect it. So stealth destroyers will behave exactly the same way as Submarines do. I.E. Stealth Destroyers will not eskort anything (with the possible exception, being if attacked by another stealth destroyer.)

The stealth destroyers are so stealthy and secret after all, they can not risk to expose them self, just to protect some silly invasion force in a bunch of transports.

It is hugely annoing, especially when taking in the account, that once getting stealth, you can not buld normal Destroyers anymore.

For now i solved this buy removing the Upgrade Destroyer->Stealth Destroyer. This way i at least can build normal Desrtoyers, and use them as Escort.

I think that if a non-stealth-detecting unit moves on top of a sub/stealth destroyer, the sub/s.d. doesn't move out of the way, it gets a free first strike on the attacking unit, and then a regular combat ensues. Maybe stealth destroyers get 2 free first strikes, since they're more advanced units.

I would also have further attacking units that turn still not be able to detect a surviving exposed sub/s.d. if they couldn't already detect it. In other words, if the enemy had 2 frigates, and one moved to attack your sub-escorted transports, the attacking frigate would be attacked with a first strike from your sub, and if your sub survived, for the remainder of that turn, your "exposed" sub would not be seen by the remaining frigate.

I never seen this kind of behavior in the game :(
