View Full Version : Dungeons and dragons
Stratagist IV Sep 01, 2007, 12:00 PM Well, I am a civ-player for about... 4-5 years now and I have recently addicted myself to dungeons and dragons. Is there anyone else on civ-fans like me? (P.S. I don't want any ranting about d&d conspiracies, because they are just hoaxes)
Nerdking Sep 02, 2007, 02:51 AM There's actually bunches of us. I myself was an addict until my crew all moved away and then I moved away.
We've got a thread in the forum games sub-forum about DnD, where I made links to the two previous DnD threads before that.
carmen510 Sep 04, 2007, 02:26 PM Yes, it my new D&D game. :smug:
Sadly, we already have 12 players, and only 6-8 are allowed at a time. I can put you on the reserve list if you want.

naw, I was just wondering, I have a game of my own..
Maniacal Sep 05, 2007, 12:52 AM I'm interested in learning D&D if I had soem friends who played it, which I don't.
But I <3 Baldur's Gate II which uses 2nd edition rules and a few 3rd.

playing that right now.... trying to come up with 20,000 gold to rescue some weakling...
my main problem is it turns out I can't have Korgan and Aerie in my party at the same time, or else they fight
Eran of Arcadia Sep 28, 2007, 06:54 PM I've played a few d20 computer RPGs, and one d6-based Star Wars tabletop, once at scout camp, but never D&D. If I knew anyone else into it I might one day. I mean, look at my sig.
Maniacal Sep 28, 2007, 07:51 PM Two of your sig links look like they involve religion, and one like a sexchange.
Of course, that's just the title, I'm too lazy to click on them.
Eran of Arcadia Sep 28, 2007, 08:56 PM The second one, actually, has nothing to do with a sex change. Although it does involve religion, obliquely, it is the D&D one I meant.
Maniacal Sep 28, 2007, 10:06 PM Looked at the second link.
I'll be back once the chiropractor fixes up the damage I shall shortly deal while laughing uncontrollably on the floor.
Eran of Arcadia Sep 28, 2007, 10:18 PM I just have to say:
Worst. DM. Ever.
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 08:14 AM Worst. DM. Ever.
Actualy, the worst Dm evers is probbably my friend (for all of you who don't understand dnd terms stop here) I was a rouge and we were doing an encounter that waaaaay outmached us. after the enemy spellslinger dropped most of the party with a fireball (they were all fighters horrible reflex saves) I had to drag everyone out while getting shot at and spells slung at me. the two bad things about that are: 1. the Dm actually let EVERYONE be fighters and 2. that I survived this with one HP and then got pasted by a clay golem.
Eran of Arcadia Sep 29, 2007, 09:03 AM Yeah, but at least he probably let you make save throws vs. traps. He didn't just say, "you triggered a trap and now you're dead."

yea well sombody's dm threw an ogre mage (ogre mage is like a level 9 encounter!) against a lvl 1 party and almost all of them got the crap beat out of them in the darkness spell it used, the archer the climbed somthing (i forget what but it was tall) then shot the ogre mage a few times, the ogre then climbed up even though it has a fly spell (idk why he didnt just fly up there) then after it gets shot about 7 times it gets close to the archer then the archer jumps off the thing without taking a lot of damage. the ogre then pulled a crossbow out of NOWHERE and shot the guy right between the eyes. he died and that was the end of the adventure.
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 09:57 AM Thats just mean, not insulting, my Dm didnt even put traps in there he made me feel totaly worthless in combat (you know, rouges and their great atk. bonus
Also, my dm didnt even put in traps, just hard people to kill, furthering my sense of worthlessness
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 10:06 AM Also, I HATE the f****** D&D bashers. people do not kill themselves from D&D, if they did kill themself they are a loser in any situation (no I'm not apologizing to anyone about this rant) All the spells are NOT REAL and I laughed my @$$ off when I heard that satanists took spells from the Dnd book, thats just pathetic. If you bible bash dnd, here is what I am going to say to u: All my dnd crew goes to my church, we are christians and good ppl. and we are not going to be losers and kill ourselves
:wallbash: :aargh: :gripe:
*pant* *pant* *pant*
Wow, I feel a lot better now that I got that off my chest
Eran of Arcadia Sep 29, 2007, 10:14 AM Besides, none of the infernal spells work right. Believe me, all that stuff is useless for summoning demons.
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 01:17 PM believe you? wait a sec... explain plz
Also, there is a dnd podcast (which you probbably know about but oh well)
Eran of Arcadia Sep 29, 2007, 01:19 PM Well, I mean, sure it's hard getting the blood of a virgin, but not impossible, but then I set up the altar and recite the Lord's Prayer backwards like the WotC sourcebook says, and darned if Beelzebub doesn't even show up.
(If you are wondering what I am talking about, you need to read more of my posts in Off Topic.)
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 01:27 PM wow, you actually tried it?!?!?
what kind of results were you expecting and why?
Eran of Arcadia Sep 29, 2007, 01:29 PM Sigh . . .
I was joking. To the best of my knowledge, none of the demon-summoning procedures in any of the sourcebooks (not that I have ever read any of them) involve virgin blood, I am not sure there is even a game mechanic in D&D for determining if someone is a virgin.
Stratagist IV Sep 29, 2007, 01:30 PM Hey, if there is a mechanic to see if you get embarrased during a night of drinking to become a drunken master there is a mechanic for anything
Eran of Arcadia Sep 29, 2007, 01:34 PM Yeah, interesting that for all the sourcebooks on demonic summoning and fighting the gods and all that they left sex up to house rules.
Stratagist IV Oct 01, 2007, 04:54 PM You can do anything with house rules, that's why dnd is so great. for example, I give bonus feats every 2 levels instead of 3
