Hello there,

So finally after a few delays because of NikNaks Hitler not being ready, I now bring you another update. After a few more pm's from people. I've added a new LH, 2 if you count NikNaks Hitler. I've also added 2 units...1 unique & 1 style. I added a custom Diplomacy music to Konrad...(Germany's National Anthem). Wolfshanze also gave me the XML to make the Assembly Plant into the Krupp Steel Works.

I've made a third version of current Germany since many people asked and were having trouble changing the flags. Also I finally got around to adding "half" support to other languages. French / German / Italian / and Spanish. Now why do I say I've added "half" support...read the change log to see why.

For Current Germany I've changed the teamcolor to dark yellow so it matches the flag.

Changelog:

August 23, 2008 - I've added 2 LH's, Konrad Adenauer & a new Hitler made by NikNaks. I removed Dr. funkshadow's Hitler. Also I've added 2 units. The Modern european spy & the Drache unit. I also added a custom Diplomacy music for Konrad, Germany's national anthem. The assembly plant was replaced for the Krupp Steel Works.
July 29, 2008 - This time around I've added more style units to bring the total of 37. I've added more unique units aswell. Current Germany has been added as well for those of you who wished to play as current Germany. I've also added 2 Leaders, Rommel & von Papen. Also I added "half" support for other languages. French / German / Italian / Spanish. What I mean by half support is that now when you play your game in those languages; Names, Civilopedia entries will now show up in English instead of being blank. I will translate these entries but first I need people who speak those languages to help me translate them.
June 4, 2008 - I've decided to take off a few units...Well I didn't completely take them off, I just added them to the Style Units instead of having them as special units. The only two units that I did removed were the Stug Tank & The Heinkel He 111. Also I've added more style units to bring the total of style units to 22. I've added 4 more special units, the Ju88 \ FW190 \ Flamethrower \ Panzer IV. Also by popular demand, I've included the German Flag (Current).
Feb 3, 2008 - This time around I've added 4 more units; German Marine, Heinkel He 177, Tornado, & the U-Boat. Also I've added the diplomacy text info to Hitler II as I forgot to add it on the previous version.
Jan 10, 2008 - I've added the Adolf Hitler created by Dr. Funkshadow...now there's 2 hitler's on Nazi Germany, pick the one that you like best. I've also added the 11 Teuton units created by danrell. Lastly, I also added the Jagdpanther unit.
Dec 14, 2007- I've added three new units, Tiger II, Panther Tank, & the Messerschmitt Bf 109. Also I've changed Hitler's favorite civic from Communism to Police State. I've also decided to merge "Custom Music Nazi Germany with Nazi Germany" as I feel that there's isn't a need for 2 of them just because one has custom music on it. Same goes for Gray Germany, it now has the custom music.

Sep 10, 2007 - I added "Custom Diplomacy Text" to Hitler so when you first encounter him he has something to say to you, instead of his 3D LH just being blank.

2. I edited Hitler so he wouldn't have 2 arm bands showing.

How To Install:
To install, extract the folder to your mods folder.
I've already set up the folders *Nazi Germany/Assets/Modules/Custom Civilizations/Nazi Germany*, Afterwards you need to go into you BTS configuration file and change 'ModularLoading = 0' to 'ModularLoading = 1

Also I've been getting questions of why the mod is not showing up even though modular loading is set to 1. For those new users, make sure you load the mod. When you start the game, go to advanced and select the "load a mod" option.

I've also added "Gray Germany" which adds Hitler to the regular Germany leaders and Hitler uses the normal Gray flag. When you load this mod, just look for Hitler under German Empire. Many users asked about this last time so I've decided to add it this time around. Just download "Gray Germany" if you want regular Germany instead of Nazi Germany.

Nice work!

Someone requested the addition of SS Waffen unit to work with your mod. So I graped the unit made by Chugginator (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5606629#post5606629) and added it to Nazi Germany module. I am posting the file here in case any one likes to have this unit.

It needs Nazi Germany to be already installed. To install it extract the file inside (Beyond the Sword/mods/Nazi Germany) folder. If the module is added to some other mod extract the file into the mod's folder. For example if the mod is Rise of Mankind extract the file into the folder (Beyond the Sword/mods/Rise of Mankind).

Note: This was originally prepared to work with "Rise of Mankind" mod. So if it gives any xml errors on loading with another mod, please report back and I will try to fix it.

Here is another SS Waffen patch that works with vanilla BTS (doesn't need Rise of Mankind). It is because Zappara adds techs and resources requirements that only found in his mod

Dang you beat me to the punch here, i went on vacation and was doing Hitler as a modular, but i was trying to get it to work with the nazi flag, and couldn't figure out how to get it to work with the other leaders, will take a look at this?

There is alot of units that are made only for nazi Germany, do you want them for this or do you mind me doing an addition?

Sorry I've been away for a while, """been playing Halo 3""" ;)

anyhow, I just recently found out the patch was finally released. I'm not sure if this mod or any of my other mods will work with the new patch but as soon as I get home I'll tested it out and if it doesn't, I'll update all my mods right away.

I stopped creating new mods since the new patch was imminent but now that is finally here, I'll make some more.

I see you still have the very "Communist" State Property has Hitler's favorite civic. If you doubt State Property's origins, just read the Civilopedia and see Stalin's favorite civic!

It should be changed to something Hitler would actually prefer... like "Police State"... you know... the civic that requires the research of Fascism!?!?!?

Oh... and I take it the way the game is coded, you either have two arm-bands or none at all?

this is a sweet pack considering all the stuff it has. so many unique units and they all look accurate and good (tiger tank especially sweet).

however well it is kinda harsh when you can actually play as a real nazi germany, but w/e i won't judge anyone. and i like the ww2 wehrmacht weaponry so i like this civ to play around with.

neither to be honest because state property equals communism, and theocracy would mean blasphemy since hitler was christian, which would not have gone well with hunting jews for their religion.

I would say he should favour police state and nationhood over anything else.

This looks like a cool mod, and I downloaded it to try it out. Sadly, it doesn't appear to work with 3.13. I enabled modular loading in the ini file, and have it installed correctly I believe. The game lets me pick it from the "Load a Mod" option, but doesn't add any of the content to the game after it's loaded.

Update coming or advice on how to make it work? Thanks!

Nazi Germany? Uh, no, not as an original civilization from 4000 BCE. Maybe as a WWII scenario, but not original.

The USA, although not present at 4000 BCE, is an original civilization, but still makes a good scenario with the Spirit of 1776.

And instead of assembly-line as a unique building, replace it instead with "concentration camp".

You didn't change the UB.

As mentioned earlier, a Concentration Camp UB could be nice. As a replacement for prison. Maybe have it cut down on maintenance while giving a large boost to espionage at the price of suffering a relations drop with other Civs (maybe -1 or -2)

Great mod! I love to play nazi germany!

But one thing MUST be changed. Stuka = fighter , totally wrong! Stuka was a dive bomber, not a fighter! The standard fighter for nazi germany was the Messerschmitt Bf 109. It was the Spitfire of germany, very good fighter when operating on Schwarm/Rotte formations. While the brittish spitfire was superior in one to one combat. If encounter equally or less experienced opponent ofcourse...

Concentration Camp shouldnt really replace prision. It should replace the assembly line or something that boost the hammers. In fact the majority of the concentration camps where not "gas" camps but rather labor camps. Most of the total prodution of germany where made out by russians, jews or other missfortuned people during the war. Unlike in Soviet, Hitler didnt want (german) women to work in the factories, so germany was very dependent on the cocentration camps and forced labor while the aryan men was out in the battle field and couldnt work. And the suffer realations drop is nonsenses, SS hide the extermination camps from both the own people and the enemy well until the very end.

I just have one question from some one not some computer savy. I dodwnloaded the file. But it dosen;t seem to be compressed (well its not letting me extract anything) Its a .rar file, How do I go about extracting it.




EDIT::: Um yeah, nevermind, lets just say if i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer (i'm a spoon). Yeah the sticky at the top had all the info I needed. Disreguard this post, and NICE WORK on the civ!!!

first of all: great work !

i tried to add the 11 teuton units u can find in this forum to the mod, but i'm quite new to modding, and the file structure in this mod confuses me a bit;
i read some tuts on how to add new units and now im able to do so in a new empty mod;
but i always get errors loading the xml files for the units (although they r working "standalone");
could u plz give a short list (1. ... 2. ... 3. ...) of the key locations to change in the existing files?

Adding units it's easy once you get practice...I added custom music for Hitler on this mod so the setup is different, that's why you're getting confused...
I've already uploaded the units but if you want to practice look at the setup I used.

This time around I created a style for the units, instead of making them special units, I created a "Germanic" style for the units.

This are the files you want to look at:

Civ4ArtDefines_Unit
CIV4UnitClassInfos -- (If you're adding another unit of the same type...Like a Tank)
CIV4UnitInfos

also, if you want to make the unit specific for an empire, you have to look at

CIV4CivilizationInfos

and add the unit under the specific empire you want...or else it will show up for all the empires. Hope that helps, you can look at the Nazi mod and see what I did, that way you'll get the idea better instead of me explaining it :mischief:

Hi there,

I got a big problem because I got the german version of the game.
I edited the 2 text files and changed everything and into german. But now I got an error at start and everything is looking like this:

hmmm...try to leave the [english] xml tags & then add the [german] tags aswell...all you need is the xml tag that links to the names, give it a try and let me know how it went...:)

Same problem.
By the way, there are 2 units that are made for every language. I got the problem in the original mod there too. Don't know why but if i write and the tag is incorrect! :(

hmmm...did you look on both config files for BTS?

make sure you change Modular loading from 0 to 1 in the germany mod.

Hi, no i only have frederick and bismark. I don't understand it. I'll tell you everything i've done. I downloaded the nazi germany file, extracted it. Put the nazi germany folder in to the mods folder in beyond the sword. I changed the modular loading to 1 in the config file located in my documents/my games/beyond the sword. I then checked the other config file you said about, i assume thats the one i downloaded? In the nazi germany folder. Modular loading is set to 1 there also. Is there another config file i haven't found?

try putting the mod on

I've been studying the posts to learn about using this mod. I can't get the app to load into C:\programfiles ... However, I changed the mod setting to [1] as noted. Does the mod xml setting have to be set to [1] as well?

I don't know what to tell you kabiel, in this case it would seem that is the mod that causes the crash but other users have used it and no problems.

Try the new Nazi Germany, hopefully that one will work for you.

Thanks for reply. Played with it a bit. Discovered changing name of file changed directory as well. Changed it back and it worked fine. What's the new nazi germany? On the one I'm playing the detail doesn't show up well but it may just be my graphic settings. I'm using a 512 mb machine. not good.

There is no archaeological evidence that the Jews were ever in Egypt. If they were, it was certainly in numbers less than a million (even the Torah mentions only 600 000, and that is likely a highly inflated number). But most importantly, if Egypt enslaved Jews, it was not out of any unique malice towards them - they enslaved their own population as well. Moreover, Egyptian slavery, it turns out, wasn't exactly what one usually thinks of when one hears the term "slavery". They had property rights, were sometimes paid, and owners had a number of obligations to their slaves, including feeding and housing them properly and even providing them with beer. Slaves were protected from abuse - there were even a sort of child labour laws, which forbid masters from employing juvenile slaves for physically demanding labour.

As much as I hate the Nazis...

Their uniforms rock. And the concept of the SS was even cool--minus the idiotic racism part. Yes, it was totally insane what Hitler thought. I mean, did you know he had a castle that was the sacred hq for the SS? He believed, along with Himmler, that the top officers were essentially the Knights of the Round Table returned! He also intended for the SS to act as a feudalistic institution where the members would rule the conquered territory.

Yes, yes, all wrong! So anti-democracy. But so wicked cool like the Empire. You love to hate them, but they have all the cool uniforms and toys.

So, please, I hope you do this well. Please get more pictures up on the first page! Just so you know, I am also wanting to see how the Israel Civ is going.

And just to be clear on some things:

1. Hitler was a nationalist. He will favor Nationalism, if that is possible. Remember that Nazi is simply short for German "Nationalism Party."
2. As such, they were totally against the Communists in Russia because Communism is totally against capitalism--which Hitler kept. He will, therefore, despise State Property.
3. He would definitely favor Police State. Remember the persecution of the Jews and the use of the SA and the creation of the SS and Gestopo (which should also replace the Spy, IMHO)!
4. While dominantly Christian, the SS and the Nazi Party was basically a cult culture that espoused a sort of folk mysticism, worshipping the German/Nordic spirit and body, and German/Nordic ancestors. It wasn't Christian by any means!
5. In many ways, it was paralleled by the rise of the communistic revolution in Russia. There, religion was in contradiction to the new state. In China, Mao declared religion the "opiate of the people."

I wonder with all these changes if this really intended for a regular Civ game. I think it's too highly specialized to be played from start (Ancient Era) to finish. It's better for a specialized scenario, if there isn't one on WW2 already. If that's the case, you're well on your way to creating one small component.

Now i downloaded a Nazi Germany civilization for the BtS.I aded Nazis folder to mods,extracted where i tried everything and not working.I go to road of war tried there to load but there is not Nazi germany only von papen.Any answers?(extracted to /mods , but not working!)

A lot of good unit choices. Very fun civ overall.
Was wondering about the logistics of adding the Fw-190, Me262, the Komet and the Leopard 2 (since they overlap with other units). They were(are) very important, revolutionary and influential but again not easy to implement.

The Panzer graphic is a panther tank. Seems redundant.

I unzipped this to the BTS mods folder and changed the modular loading value to 1 but when it loads, the game is exactly the same. I downloaded the gray germany version btw. Also I created a folder for it in the mods section called "Hitler", like all the other mods that come with the game. It shows up on the mod list, loads it, but no changes are made...

What could be the problem? Need more info?

The directions in the .ini ile you just quoted clearly say what to do.

Therefore, SPECIFY the folder Mods\Nazi Germany or whatever the exact name of the folder is.

I love this mod, and it seems to work fine with one odd quirk:

I'm now seeing the "Knight" unit appear twice in my unit build screens. I'm not playing the Nazis, I'm playing as Washington, but the Nazis are an AI in the game.

I can build both "types" of Knights, and they appear to be the very same unit. (They group together as one unit group, they cost the same, etc.)

This only seems to happen with the Knight unit, so far. Anyone else experience this?

Hey Woody, the reason you see two knight symbols appear is because Germany can build two type of knights...the normal knight & the Horseman which is a knight too. They both fall under the same type of unit hence the two knights option.

P.S you will also experience this with the Tank / Marine / Bomber and a few more but this won't affect your gameplay.

I wasn't playing as Germany, though. I was playing as the Americans. I would not expect to be able to build any type of German unit. Is this just a side-effect of the way the two different types of German Knights are implemented in the XML files?

It doesn't seem to affect gameplay, other than add a duplicate unit to my build options. Thanks for the info.

Even though you see two knight units, they are not German. I guess you can say it's a side effect because Germany has the two different knights.

If you play as any other civ you will see two knight buttons appear but you will get the same knight (european style knight since you're playing as America.)

Well, it's your mod, but I don't think von Papen is an adiquate leader of Nazi-Germany. He may have been a monarchist and an idiot, but no nazi. He even suggested to Hindenburg to use military against the NSDAP (and the reds). He only voted for Hitler as chancellor because he believed he (von Papen) could use Hitler as political puppet (this is why I called him an idiot). If you take him as nazi leader you could take Hindenburg as well...

From what I read about von Papen, I didn't add him for Nazi Germany, I added him for Germany but I left him on for both civs. Same goes for Hitler...I didn't remove him from Germany because a few people wanted to have him on for Current Germany. I wanted to please as many people as I could.

I just browsed the forums and read on how to add a new unit into Civ4. I'm a total greenhorn when it comes to modding Civ4 as you can see. More difficult than I thought !
I just tried to add the Waffen SS as another UU for Germany for testing purposes. I copied the Navy Seal XML codes and altered them, but no success yet. And oddly, some Spearmen became Tanks when I started a new game :lol:
Guess I have to rollback the folders and try again...

yes, it can be a bit complicated at first...but once you get basic concepts of adding units / buildings, it's cake! :)

When adding new units you have to be very careful and make sure you use the corresponding animations or else your newly added units won't display property.

About spearmen becoming tanks...wow that must have been an amazing transformation :lol: j/k. When you add a new unit that's going to be the same class as an unit already in game, you have check the class info.

For example if I were to add the Tiger Tank

Ok, I finally managed to add the Waffen SS as a second UU for Germany. It replaces the usual Marine (just like Navy Seals for America).
I started a new Rhye's and Fall (RFC) game and went to the World Builder, found and placed some Waffen SS on the map.
Everything looks and works fine, except that some cities have Mechanized Infantry inside at the beginning (a Viking City and Bejing for example) and some Modern Artillery is floating in the water (near London and Scandinavia)?!
It is exactly the same problem that I posted before when I laughed about "Spearmen turning into Tanks", but now I am sure I only edited what was necessary to implement the Waffen SS. I didn't even touch Mechanized Infantry or Artillery in the XML !
And when I start a new game several times, the Mech. Infantry and Artilley are always on the same cities and tiles. I don't know why RFC does that.
If it helps, I can post what I added into the XML files.

I think I know what might be the problem, but hard to explain. I'll try.
I was in the World Builder and noticed that next to the Mech. Inf. Icon there is the Archer Icon, and all Archers became Mech. Inf. in my game.
The Modern Artillery Icon is next to the Worker Boat Icon, so I guess all my Worker Boats became Modern Artillery, and all Triremes became Worker Boats, because thats the next Icon in the order.
The new Waffen SS Icon simply changed the unit order somehow ?!
But all the other Units I see at the start seem to be ok.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the unitinfos...the unit upgrade section. Go ahead and post the files so I can take a look at them.

I solved it ! At first, I put the Waffen SS right after the Navy Seal in the CIV4UnitInfos.xml and that disturbed the "unit order" as I assumed.
I put the Waffen SS now at the very end of the CIV4UnitInfos.xml and the Mech. Inf and Artillery are gone respectively they are Archers and Working Boats again ;)

Adding units or rearranging the order will only effect saved games. You can have your unit order any way you like when starting a new game.

Try adding a new LH in the middle of the LH files, then reload a saved game... you'll get some crazy results! :mischief:

Sounds logic now, thinking that RFC is a scenario. So the others got Mech. Inf. as a starting unit except of Archers. Not a bad start :goodjob:

I use Bernie's Waffen SS in the camo unis. Chuggi's SS look more like Chancellor building guards then Waffen SS combat troops. My 2-cents... black looks sharp, but it gets you shot in about three seconds on a WWII battlefield. ;)

Speaking of matters... I never liked the "Assembly Plant" for Germany as the UB (almost totally worthless)... in my Wolfshanze Mod I switched it out with the "Krupp Steel Works", which gives bonus experience to Artillery and Armored units instead of allowing more specialists.

I admit I got lazy with the graphic... since Germany already has a unique factory look, I just reused the Assembly Plant Graphic for Krupp Steel Works... I did, however, give new UB stats and descriptions for the building in-game.

I didn't include the name TXT XML files... I assume you can handle that! I debated between "Krupp Steel Mill" and "Krupp Steel Works" which is why you see a little of both in my XML... in the end I settled on the latter.

Hm, the mod looks nice, but Adenauer as a leader of Nazi Germany is just wrong. (He was first Chancellor of todays Federal Republic of Germany)
It's like treating George III of the United Kingdom as an American leader..
Perhaps use other Nazi-grands instead (Göring, Goebbels,..)?

Hi all. Ok noob here who has no intention of messing around too much, messing up, and having to reinstall all again.

However, I want Hitler in. That's all really, just to have him as a German leader and i'd be happy. I'm sure all these new German units and extras are great, but I don't want all that, just Hitler in... and here's the thing - in the BTS standard game, I mean without loading a mod, is there a way I can do that? I have limited experience with the code, can and have changed some things, so with some simple instructions I should manage. All I'd like is Hitler and maybe his music (if it's available).. oh and Civ history, leader history would be cool too. I think you know what I'm asking for, Adolf - as the other leaders are in the game, available to play.

Possible at all? :)

Ok NeverSurrender, if you only want hitler installed in your BTS game without loading a mod(I wouldn't recommend this)

the files you need to look are

CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead <<< This is where you will be linking Hitler to Hitler's Art Folder.
CIV4LeaderHeadInfos <<< This file will define Hitler's Traits / Favorite Civics If any.
CIV4CivilizationInfos <<< In this file you want to add Hitler Under Germany or else he won't show for Germany...or anybody else.
Now I usually make a Text file for the Names, Diplomacy Entries etc..etc... but since you want Hitler added to your Main game...CIV4GameText_Civilopedia_BTS would be the best place to add Hitler's Civilopedia info.

Now I would really recommend adding Hitler a mod instead though.

Sorry to hear that your first try failed...but don't give up...you'll get it.

I would recommend putting Hitler's Art folder here:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\Art\Leaderheads

that's how it looks for me...but I'm sure your setup might be the same or similar. Since you want to have this on your Main BTS game, the Nazi Germany file won't be needed. You don't need to delete any text whatsoever, all you have to do is add text.

If this is your first time adding Leaders to a Civ, it may seem a bit complicated but you will get it...DON'T QUIT!

Yes, and it looks like a very good article, but one best for an intermediate or fledgling civ code tinkerer maybe... I am unfortunately in the noob bracket, somewhat below fledgling and some things in the post :confused: me.

Find the corresponding Nazi files and copy the text into? If only it were that 'easy'(?). All the text? Just the juicy bits? Paste them at the end... right at the end? See this is the extent of my modding knowledge, previously only altered a few small bits of text.

If I wanted to do much modding, i'd throw myself into it and learn, but I only make very minor changes to the main game. modding is a luxury I don't feel I have the time to afford. Just wanna play.

concentration camps should be able to sacrifice population to hurry production without slavery and without :mad: and reduce foreign culture in city (by whipping production)
but cause lots of unrest if you use anything but police state and especially if you switch to emancipation, free speech, universal suffrage (and cause diplomatic hits with civs that use any of these civics)
there should really be a possibility to destroy buildings though

if this was already mentioned...well, i didnt really read through the the whole thread so safely ignore this.

You are also going to have to change the diplomacy texts and allow for the greeting in the diplomacy screens. But basically all of those are necessary in order to see it in the game.

Civ4ArtDefines_leaderhead tags the information in the leaderheadinfos.xml to the files you have the art in.

Civ4CivilizationInfos allows you to select the leader (makes him/her available to that civ) in teh game.

Leaderhead infos gives the leader their traits, favorite civic, favorite religion, and basic personality (as well as their diplomacy music)

The other stuff is the text, so in essence the stuff you are going to read in teh game such as their name, their civilopedia and all that stuff.

When I started adding leaders/modding this seemed really daunting, but its actually really easy and once you get used to doing it, it gets to become like second nature.

I think a type of SS Buiding in place of a police station or security bureau would be better than a concentration camp.

Although I have no suggestions for what the benefits would be of these buildings.

Ok NeverSurrender, if you only want hitler installed in your BTS game without loading a mod(I wouldn't recommend this)

the files you need to look are

CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead <<< This is where you will be linking Hitler to Hitler's Art Folder.
CIV4LeaderHeadInfos <<< This file will define Hitler's Traits / Favorite Civics If any.
CIV4CivilizationInfos <<< In this file you want to add Hitler Under Germany or else he won't show for Germany...or anybody else.
Now I usually make a Text file for the Names, Diplomacy Entries etc..etc... but since you want Hitler added to your Main game...CIV4GameText_Civilopedia_BTS would be the best place to add Hitler's Civilopedia info.

Now I would really recommend adding Hitler a mod instead though.

That's kind of my problem, I want to add this mod into a base mod I use, I'm thinking the problem might be the .fpk files not being merged?

well all the art files are in a packed to reduce loading times on "aged" computers. Unpacking them will reveal all the art files.

has anyone successfully used this module with the rise of mankind mod ?

i tried and did the following;

- enabled modular loading;
- unpack RoM to BtS mod folder
- install RoM patch
- unpack nazi germany contents to the RoM folder

i can start and play the mod with the module but i get a error message on mod loading saying:

Tag: UNITCOMBAT_ARMOR (or naval / air) in Info class was incorrect

the file mentioned is

modules\custom civilizations\nazi germany\buildings\nazi_civ4buildingsinfos.xml

as well as the one for the units;
there are some minor errors when playing the mod; e.g. bismarck battleships dont get xp from building; they do get xp from combat but cannot be upgraded;

can anyone guide me plz or tell what i'm missing ?

well if you want to play this mod along with others, you're going to have to merge them. for example, my unit class infos will need to be intergrated to the mankind mod.

Hey dwolf, you're mod is awesome, great job. my friend and i are trying to link up to play and we both are using the mod. I play as the nazi germans and he as the americans, and for the most part it runs great. however, he is using a mac and has a mac version of the game. and the problem he has is when he loads the mod, there is a failure in the module/custom civ/nazi germany/units and text data for the name of the units. every unit has a "TXT_KEY_UNIT_(name of unit)" including the generals.

I was wondering if you had any idea at all how we could fix this. It seems to be just showing the command line rather than the text that the command line is leading to. The only thought i had, which would be time consuming, would be to go through the exact files and take out the TXT_KEY_UNIT_ of each and change all the unit names in the command lines to normal case instead of all caps.

any help would be appreciated. If not, no worries, your mod runs great and you did an awesome job on it.

That problem is somewhat well-known. Still, I have no Mac and I haven't made my text files Mac compatible either. So I'll be of limited help. I read about the topic and I heard there is a script you can run to convert a given Windows text file to make it working on Macs. From looking at Mac compatible text files, I'd say that the problem could be the 'line ending symbol' (a symbol that tells the system that the end of a line has been reached - you create it with pressing enter ;) ) as the line endings are gone in such files on a windows system, but I'm not sure. You might try to find a program that is capable of dealing with both standards and then convert the text files. But at first, I'd go to the Mac section of civfanatics to see what they have done to solve this. Also, there are mods that claim to be Mac compatible, here in the general modding section. You might ask the modder for help by posting in his thread or - as I would do it - by writing him a pm.

when i pick hitler as the leader the game crashes also when i check the civopedia hitler is black no pic decscript or anything.. any suggestions ?

This thread is over a year old. The original post says it's for BTS version 3.17 and judging by the channel log there the module has most likely not been updated to 3.19. So that might be what is causing your problem.
