Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 03, 2008, 07:56 PM Catapults go 0011100000010 (as in 0 = miss, 1 = hit). I think this is as efficient and minimalist as a turnlog can be for that.
In other news, legions promote to 4/5 against 4/4 vMDI + tumbling wooden contraption (missed). The mind boggling contraptions are taken down and used as campfires. It made poor carving wood, too rough.

Niklas Mar 09, 2008, 01:52 PM In another PBEM, I am the last player and was notified of an active volcano (with a screenshot of the volcano and 8 adjacent tiles) on another continent that I have yet to visit.
Ok, I think we need a clarification on this. Beorn, did or did you not get a warning on Whomp's turn regarding that volcano being about to blow? I've been assuming no since Whomp didn't have visibility there, but denyd's quote clearly contradicts that.
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 09, 2008, 02:28 PM Whomp told me of a volcano that erupted, a couple of turns ago (right before he left), and I saw the eruption message at the end of his turn (this turn). I haven't seen the activation message, though he might have gotten it. Maybe he confused the activation message with an eruption.
Niklas Mar 09, 2008, 02:54 PM So, obviously the last player, and only that player, gets the warnings. And should naturally pass them on to all other players. Whomp didn't do that in this case, presumably because he didn't realize he was the only one that got them, and as a result I lost a squadrillion units without the chance to do anything about it.
We don't have any admins to turn to for this game, but I'm definitely of the opinion that we should go back and replay (as close to the original as possible of course) from when that message first appeared.
General_W Mar 09, 2008, 03:10 PM No supprise here, but I’m willing to do that.
I believe it was an honest mistake by Whomp – but it doesn’t seem fair to punish Niklas for the ignorance of all of us.
I’ve got good notes, and can replay my saves exactly as I did before.
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 10, 2008, 08:30 AM Well, I almost missed it myself. And I have squat for turnlogs. Would you guys really want to restart from 121?? I'll vote against that.
That being said, I'm fully ready to accept your resignations :p
Niklas Mar 10, 2008, 11:27 AM Is 121 the turn when the warning appeared? That certainly seems a long time back, and if you prefer then I would be fine with playing from the turn just before the eruption itself. 124 then, right?
This seems to me a question of inherent fairness. If only one player gets warnings that all players should be privy to, then of course those warnings should be forwarded, how else could you consider the game fair?
If you don't have turnlogs, no matter. I'm fine with you playing the turns (or turn) "fresh", since we can't force anyone to keep a turnlog. I don't have one either, but my turns haven't been that complex so I think I can reproduce them rather faithfully.
General_W Mar 10, 2008, 11:51 AM :agree:
Just going a turn back is what I had in mind anyway. Going back to turn 121 would be a bit of overkill...
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 10, 2008, 11:59 AM Then I'm waiting for your save.
Niklas Mar 10, 2008, 12:17 PM Alright, turn 124 replayed and resent to General_W. :)

General_W Mar 11, 2008, 09:05 PM 125 – and we’re caught back up – to Beorn
Note: This turn I was able to capture one of Whomp’s workers that was left uncovered.
I didn’t do this last time I played turn 125 because the worker was protected by an MW. I thought about this, and decided (personally) that I didn’t think this was taking advantage of a re-play, because it was really a different turn with a different situation (units in different places). I noticed that the MW was apparently sent to a more strategic location (avalible to join the stack advancing on DerWall) – so it was a trade-off risk you made. (or else a mistake?) Either way, I sincerely think what I did was in the spirit of the game.
However – if you feel this is unfair, I’m willing to replay without the capture. It’s an odd situation, and I don’t want to make a stink over something so small.
Let me know what you think! :salute:
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 11, 2008, 09:48 PM It was a mistake, I thought about it on the first go but was playing on the radar the second time and missed it, so yeah, I'm feeling short-handed there.
General_W Mar 11, 2008, 10:34 PM feeling "short-handed" ?
Meaning you needed the MW elsewhere and you're ok with what happened?
Or is that some kind of Chicago slang for you want a do-over? ;)
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 11, 2008, 10:57 PM Make that a french mistranslation for short-changed ;)
General_W Mar 13, 2008, 12:58 PM So.... did you play Beorn?
Is the game waiting on you or Niklas?
Now, where's that button...
:bump:
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 13, 2008, 04:38 PM So I don't get a replay for that :hmm:
General_W Mar 13, 2008, 04:41 PM I'm willing to give you a replay if you think it was unfair.
If we're giving replays just for making a mistake that an opponent exploited... then I've got about 10 turns I'd like to replay  ... you seem to be very good at taking full advantage of my frequent stupidity!
Niklas Mar 13, 2008, 04:48 PM Yeah, you should get a replay for that. So I'm waiting for a new save from you. :)
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 13, 2008, 07:04 PM From my understanding, the only real change was that the General hijacked my worker, but if bureaucracy must be served, I'll replay it when I have a minute.
Niklas Mar 13, 2008, 07:33 PM Well, I guess General_W could do things differently, but my understanding is that you would then have one more MW closer to the front. So I guess General_W could just replay his turn, if you next turn move that MW as if it had been on the forest. :crazyeye:
General_W Mar 13, 2008, 08:38 PM So I guess General_W could just replay his turn, if you next turn move that MW as if it had been on the forest.
Exactly.
Whatever you prefer Beorn.
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 13, 2008, 10:23 PM I intended to do that indeed.
General_W Mar 14, 2008, 10:59 AM I intended to do that indeed.
I'm sorry if I'm just being dense here… but do you mean you intended to not move that MW next turn, indeed?
Which would mean that I need to replay the save without taking that worker.
Sorry I didn't see your post here till just now… and it'll be at least 12 hours before I can replay the save.
Assuming that you are indeed pledging to not move that MW next turn (or rather, only moving it to a location it could have reached from the forest) – then I'll go ahead and replay as soon as possible.
What a mess :wallbash:
Niklas Mar 14, 2008, 11:00 AM Indeed, what a mess. But it's only this one turn now, after that we're going pristine again. :)
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 14, 2008, 11:18 AM Sorry, I intended to use that single MW and wreak havoc all around your countryside, using it with unabashed impunity.
General_W Mar 14, 2008, 11:27 AM As I suspected!
In that case, I'm keeping the worker.
Seems like a decent trade :)

So my worker is now a slave also, eh?
Beorn-eL-Feared Mar 28, 2008, 09:03 PM Nah, he's got his very own banana republic right now. Or, well, since no one will research republic, maybe it's a banana theocracy. But then again, without the bananas. Just smoke and mirrors.

I'm starting to wonder if I missed seeing one of your units last turn :scared:
Beorn-eL-Feared Apr 01, 2008, 08:33 PM Not razed or pillaged, abandoned.
General_W Apr 01, 2008, 08:46 PM Thanks for that clarification... but that doesn't answer my question
Or is this just more of the heavy metal inside jokes? :crazyeye:
Whomp Apr 01, 2008, 10:05 PM I think he meant one of Niklas' cities. Anyhow, the save is off to Niklas to view the rubble.

P.S. What is "o.c." anyway?
Wikipedia suggests: Organized Crime? Orange County? OxyContin?
Niklas Apr 12, 2008, 04:31 PM Off course? That's how I read it anyway.
I've been busy all day today, got home not long ago. I'm going to walk the dogs now, then play the turn once I get back.

Bed time for me now... pestering will resume in 7 hours... ;)
Niklas Apr 16, 2008, 06:14 AM Sorry sorry sorry. But you see cabal was all crazy last night, it persisted in installing bytestring-0.9.0.4 even though the core ghc-6.8.2 package cannot be upgraded past bytestring-0.9.0.1, so I got conflicting type representation errors in plugins-1.2. In the end I had to reinstall ghc itself and start from scratch, installing each package one by one and ensuring that bytestring-0.9.0.4 didn't get installed at any step. I swear that bytestring-0.9.0.4 patch has caused more compatibility errors than any other. And of course all of it was for nothing since the happs-hsp-0.1 package that I really wanted had a stupid dependency on hinotify-0.1, which naturally doesn't run on windows.
GPS to General_W now anyway. ;)
Oh, and a vMace upgrades to 3/5 killing that MW.

General_W Apr 19, 2008, 03:36 PM The RNG strikes again for the Bears! :wow:
My combat calculator says 11% chance for the first result, and 5% odds for the second.
With only a 45% chance to have won either battle - never mind the near flawless victories.
The 3 on 2 game continues...
EDIT: And yes... yes.... I know that complaining about the RNG is the last refuge of losers. What can I say? I'm feeling like a loser after that naval battle! ;)
