Russia was beaten in the Cold war, just not as badly, it now holds free elections (though it is for the most part socialist still). It is also now closely allied with America. France, Germany and the New Italian Empire have broken with NATO and formed their own alliance. Mankind has reached for the stars, Thanks to a new HyperAcceleration Engine (Pluto in a Month), and the first Extraterrestrial human Nation has been formed from a rebellious American lunar colony. Mars colonization has begun, only to find it already inhabited by martians small lizardlike fellows, not very advanced actually. Mexico and most of the rest of Central America have joined the US to escape conquest at the hands of the Incans. Africa has banded together to try to compete in the Modern world, joining the Star Reachers who like themselves have yet to Colonise another planet. The Race is on for Asteroid capturing. The rest is for you to write....

- A week ago Chinese engineers began construction on yet another monument to chinese greatness: the space elevator, which will be located in geosynchronous orbit over Hsining. Once completed, the elevator will allow for easy transport into orbit. This method is supposed to be much cheaper than the conventional use of rockets and will give the StarReachersPact an advantage in the race for space domination. The Chinese Ministry of Space believes that the elevator will be seeing action in 4 years.
- Yesterday New Nanking was founded on Mercury. The CMS stated that an state-of-the-art laboratory will soon be established. This will help to further explore the sun.
- Wuxing and Lanzhou mining cooperations begin mining in the asteroid belt. Finally China gains access to the nearly infinite riches that will surely boost chinese production.
- The Chinese Space Navy conducted an survey of Jupiter last month to find possible locations for an military outpost. There still has been no offical statement regarding this expedition.

A colony of five square miles has been established, and America claimes all of one fourth of the planet as theirs. A new liquid substance has been found in lakes and ponds in the area, and has the potential for being an alternate fuel source. Scientists are studying it as you read this report.

American asteronauts have indeed found a metal source on five, city-size asteroids, and has established the claims for the U.S. The metal called Antimantium iis being harnassed now.

News on the Spacestation over Venus:

I've understood that Jason's is in Space above, am I right?
But landing is insane. The longest a probe on Venus has lasted was about 10 minutes. It was then promptly crushed, burnt and evaporated by the planet's atmosphere. Venus may be our sister planet, but she sure is one bad motha of a wicked step-sister, really! I wouldn't say it's physically or ethically possible to try and build a colony on the planet. The colonists' chances of survival (at least without research) would probably be one notch above zero...
Oh, and BTW, there's plenty of water on Venus. Only problem is, it's *ALL* stuck in the atmosphere, causing insane amounts of pressure. Venus is, quite literally, a preview of hell. It rains acid there too. I'm afraid you won't be finding a lot of lakes and pools of anything on the surface of that world...

French science minister today announced the "Academie scientifique" has recently begun the Jupiter project,which is suspected to take 3 years.
In addition to the current build up of the sea navy begun in 2098 the Marseille and its crew begin constructing the space station "Charles DeGaulle" in Mars orbit;both projects will take 3 years as well.

OOC: I'm guessing if there is technology to colonise Mercury, then you can do it with Venus. My mistake, though.

Earth, The Space Elevator (3 years left)
There have been minor setbacks on this project as Tibetian Terrorists managed to sabotage several supply shuttle. But now that security has increased considerably such attacks are very unlikely to happen again. The CMS stated that inspite of these terrorist acts the project will be finished as planned. An asteroid has already been put in earth orbit, in a distance of 100,000 km, and the first cables will be attached to it soon. These cables consist of carbon-nanotube-composite ribbon and are far stronger than any other cables in existence. If everything goes well, the elevator could be used in about two years and would be finished in three.
Mercury, New Nanking colony (1 year left)
The first chinese colony is a full success. Already 5,000 colonists from all SRP states live there and work hard for the greater glory of the SRP. 2/3 of the colony are situated beneath the surface of Mercury because radiation levels are much lower down there. Altough the colony still relies on supplies from Earth, it will become self-sufficient in 11 months. The research facility on Mercury is due to be online in about a year as well for chinese engineers had some trouble maintaining the observatory in Mercury's orbit. After some meteor showers five months ago it seemed that the project was lost but luckily it could be saved. Also China has claimed the whole of Mercury in the name of the SRP.
Jupiter
After an extensive survey of Jupiter and the surrounding moons military outposts have been established on Io, the innermost of the Galilean moons, and on Europa, where recently a layer of liquid water was found beneath Europa's ice surface. Both moons have been declared a prohibited zone and only the chinese military has access to it.

The substance only exists on Venus, in the northern hemishpere. The substace is found in puddles, but also is known to be underground in vast loads. The fuel, when fully refined, emits no toxins. When burned, emits an eery blue glow, but seems not to be hot. The substace can go the same speed and distance as 500,000 gallons of petroleum with only a teaspoon.

Tritanium finally has been incorporated into almost all of the Space Navy's ships. The CMRD has been quiet pleased that technologies have been exchanged with United States of America. The alternate fuel that US scientists discovered is now being integrated into chinese ships, along with minor upgrades to chinese engines. The CMRD also announced that a new kind of grain will be introduced soon.
