View Full Version : The Midnight Shift - What Are you Playing?
steviejay Sep 10, 2007, 05:39 PM Now I had a look and couldn't see a similar thread which seems odd b ut knowing my luck there is one and..... well meh.
Anyway. I've just completed BIoshock, I've got the 1k achievement points and there doesn't seem anything left with it to interest me so I'm officially bored.
Whats everyone playing on their PC/360/PS3/Wii/SNES/... at the moment?
I've reduced myself to playing Saints Row on multiplayer..... really wish Halo 3 would hurry up and get shipped.
Kan' Sharuminar Sep 10, 2007, 07:41 PM Was thinking about starting this sort of thread recently.
Anywho's, I'm just playing some Medieval II when I get the chance, and catching up on Call of Duty 2 again. I've got Rome, Lord of the Rings Online and the new Football Manager lined up for the future, though :D
steviejay Sep 10, 2007, 09:14 PM I'm thinking about getting CoD2 for the 360 but I kind of fell out with the series after I had a few issues with the physics engine of CoD3 (being shot through walls for instance) and it left a bad taste in my mouth but I've heard nothing but good things about the new CoD so it could just tweak my interest again.
nodikus Sep 10, 2007, 10:40 PM I'm playing Diablo II if I just want to kill some time, otherwise mostly C&C3.
Aramazd Sep 11, 2007, 12:11 AM I'm playing Metroid Prime 3. It's pretty awesome, but I just started.
Maniacal Sep 11, 2007, 12:17 AM For this week, maybe some DF or HoMMII, the other games on this comp here I'm bored of.
>.>
On my good computer though I've been playing Red Orchestra, RTW: Darthmod and The Fourth Age mod, and various other games.
Thrawn Sep 11, 2007, 01:32 AM I play WoW and don't have time for anything else atm.
steviejay Sep 11, 2007, 05:42 AM Whats Metroid Prime 3 like? is it a FPS? Is it worth hooking my Wii up for or should it stay in the box until Mario Galaxies comes out?
Also while I'm asking, what's the going rate for WoW? I know you have to buy the software but I'm sure there's a monthly charge as well?
woodelf Sep 11, 2007, 06:19 AM FM2007 and some D2 when I need to whack something. :)
Darth_Pugwash Sep 11, 2007, 07:16 AM I've been playing far too much Company of Heroes multiplayer this year. Can't wait for Opposing Fronts in November. :D
I've also been playing a little Call of Duty 2, and I'm considering finally playing through the second half of STALKER.
btw@ stevie: Call of Duty 3 and the other console-only COD games were made by a different developer than COD1/2, which were made by Infinity Ward. The Infinity Ward ones are generally considered better, AFAIK, and COD2 is an awesome game.
Heretic_Cata Sep 11, 2007, 07:51 AM We already had a thread like this - but it kept falling under and i dunno why. I was making consecutive posts in there so i didn't bump it again.
It's exams time so i don't have time for games but i'm playing Postal2 - it's Thursday. :)
I recently finished IceWind Dale 2 - which was not bad. Kinda boring for the most part, plus lousy story but the game managed to get me hooked enough so that i'd get to the end without abandoning. Also, it was a lot shorter than i expected.
I'd like to start playing Rome:TW now, but that's not really my kind of game genre. And i'm not in the mood for Bioshock either ...
Rheinmetall Sep 11, 2007, 08:04 AM DF, DF and DF. I've recently considered installing STALKER again.
steviejay Sep 11, 2007, 10:39 AM What exactly is this DF? I've heard it mentioned?
Till Sep 11, 2007, 11:03 AM It stands for Dwarf Fortress (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/). I currently play no more than the odd game of Fifa98, even though EU2, Oblivion and Enemy Territory are installed, also.
woodelf Sep 11, 2007, 01:04 PM I keep forgetting to d/l DF. Thanks for the link.
Kozmos Sep 11, 2007, 01:51 PM Just axed the latest splinter cell, will concentrate on Bioshock and Quake Wars demo nao. M2TW and it's expansion will receive some attention as well.
Izipo Sep 11, 2007, 05:05 PM Is DF really that good ? Because it looks interesting, but... It also looks like it could run on a C64.
steviejay Sep 11, 2007, 05:21 PM Bioshock won't take you very long. I was disappointed in how easy it was. brilliant game though.
I'm so bored that I've downloaded Double Dragon from XBL and I'm also completing Halo 2 again in prep for Halo 3.
I also tried to play a bit more of Tony Hawks 8 but after 2 attempts at a particular trick I remembered why I rarely play it.....
sirtommygunn Sep 11, 2007, 08:01 PM I spend preety much all my time on WarCraft 3 and Battle for Middle Earth other than that ill somtimes play starcraft, medieval 2 total war and hearts of iron 2
Aramazd Sep 11, 2007, 09:22 PM Whats Metroid Prime 3 like? is it a FPS? Is it worth hooking my Wii up for or should it stay in the box until Mario Galaxies comes out?
Metroid Prime 3 is a great shooter/action game. There is a free preview you can download from Wii Shop and check it out and there are some videos on YouTube if you want to check it out. I would recommend that you buy it; it's the best game for the Wii, IMO.
Berrie Sep 12, 2007, 04:14 AM Currently playing Hearts of Iron II, while I'm waiting for my HoI Anthology pack to arrive. As Canada I have liberated North-Africa of Axis-presence, conquered Sicily and liberated Greece. I'm running into manpower issues, so at the moment (summer of '42) it's a stalemate.
Before that, I was in a Galatic Civilizations II phase.
Junglecutter Sep 12, 2007, 05:20 AM Sadly, school has taken over my life again and I can only affort to play around 1 hr of SimCity :(
Rheinmetall Sep 20, 2007, 09:51 AM Playing stalker again with the REDUX mod.
Heretic_Cata Sep 20, 2007, 11:27 AM Played GalCiv2 - got bored of it.
Playing Soul Reaver 2 now.
Kozmos Sep 20, 2007, 12:07 PM Back to BF2. Until I can shank my friend and rob his house for WiC that is.
azzaman333 Sep 26, 2007, 12:04 AM I'm playing a lot of FIFA 07, in preparation for FIFA 08.
steviejay Sep 26, 2007, 06:25 PM Needless to say Halo 3 has taken up alot of my time since I got it 5 hours ago.
Before thast I've been playing the CoD4 multiplayer beta pretty solidly for about a week.
Getting new computer on Friday which means I SHOULD be able to play CIv4 at a normal level. Praise be to all heh
Heretic_Cata Sep 27, 2007, 02:30 AM I'll probably start playing Silent Hill 1 soon.
GoodEnoughForMe Sep 27, 2007, 11:55 AM World of Warcraft mostly, and the occasional Madden or Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Kozmos Sep 27, 2007, 12:32 PM I'm gonna try to get my PS1 emulator working. Maybe I can get Crash Team Racing woot woot!
Shylock Sep 27, 2007, 04:27 PM Stronghold 2, World in Conflict and a little Starcraft in the computer lab before class.
Maniacal Sep 27, 2007, 05:14 PM Mount&Blade is currently taking up a lot of my time too.
Rheinmetall Sep 28, 2007, 06:14 AM I'm going to dedicate this weekend to Bioshock.
ArneHD Sep 28, 2007, 04:25 PM Hearts of Iron 2, Hearts of Iron 2 and more Hearts of Iron 2. Armageddon edition to be specific. Currently playing as Nationalist China, and I have annexed Japan. It is currently the year of 42.
PS: (Berrie, be sure to use the option tech team takeover before you start, if you are albania(or anyone else for that matter) and annex germany, you will get their tech teams! It rules!).
Quintillus Sep 29, 2007, 12:07 PM It seems I'm the first one playing a [civ1] game is this thread, which seems somewhat strange. This is the other games forum, true, but it's a Civilization site. Anyways, it's [civ3] for me!
Gilder Sep 29, 2007, 02:19 PM Resident Evil 4.
It would be nice if I wasn't dying so much.
jafink Sep 30, 2007, 03:28 PM I haven't played any retail games for a while. Lately I have been playing Astroempires.
Captain2 Oct 01, 2007, 05:42 AM I'm in a strange position, I find myself bouncing back and forth between Quake 4 and Hearts of Iron Armageddon
Armegeddon gives me some large operation that I can't win and stresses me out so I go onto Quake and blow things up for an hour then I feel better
Kan' Sharuminar Oct 06, 2007, 07:46 AM Playing Company of Heroes again - I never quite get into this game, but I've been on a Band of Brothers binge, and it seems to have gotten me in the mood for this great game again :D
Also playing Lord of the Rings Online again, and a bit of MoH: Airborne.
Captain2 Oct 06, 2007, 08:45 AM ah yes company of heroes..
my friend and I keep going to a local LAN hangout just to play it
however we really suck, both of us combined can't beat more than one easy opponent without the fight turning into a Berlin style battle in our base
Heretic_Cata Oct 06, 2007, 12:55 PM Finished SilentHill1. It's cool and easy. :) Got the bad ending ... naturaly.
Dunno what to play next.
Captain2 Oct 06, 2007, 01:13 PM Silent Hill 2?
I haven't played it but I read up on it and it seems really quite interesting, but I'm the kind of person who studies minds so....
Heretic_Cata Oct 06, 2007, 01:26 PM Silent Hill 2?

I already installed it. But i dunno if it's the next thing i'll play. Looks fun. :)
I think i'll try Blood Omen 2.
Maniacal Oct 06, 2007, 02:07 PM I've been playing a lot of Hidden: Source
Rheinmetall Oct 06, 2007, 02:19 PM I whacked through the Bioshock and now I'm tackling with Stalker again, and one other game I'm saving for the video game quiz.
Is the Hidden: Source any good? I have CS source, but haven't had much use for it.
Maniacal Oct 06, 2007, 04:35 PM Hidden is pretty fun. As usual, it varies depending who's on the server and it's very hard to see the Hidden, it requires Half-Life 2 to work though.
Aramazd Oct 06, 2007, 07:50 PM Been playing Super Paper Mario on Wii lately. Also been at my friend's playing Halo 3.
Rheinmetall Oct 07, 2007, 12:21 AM Hidden is pretty fun. As usual, it varies depending who's on the server and it's very hard to see the Hidden, it requires Half-Life 2 to work though.
I also have the H-L2.
Kan' Sharuminar Oct 07, 2007, 10:35 AM I played it last night and it is quite fun. Some good maps with lots of shadows and darkened places, always fun to group together in a huddled mass scanning for some sign of the creature.
It's a little bit F.E.A.R.-esque, I felt.
Rheinmetall Oct 07, 2007, 10:47 AM I played it last night and it is quite fun. Some good maps with lots of shadows and darkened places, always fun to group together in a huddled mass scanning for some sign of the creature.
It's a little bit F.E.A.R.-esque, I felt.
But F.E.A.R. ain't scary.
Kan' Sharuminar Oct 07, 2007, 10:58 AM Neither is this ;)
I was more referring the darkened levels and destructible items flying about to create confusion.
Kozmos Oct 07, 2007, 11:39 AM Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Surprisingly good.
Rheinmetall Oct 07, 2007, 12:25 PM Neither is this ;)

Sounds like my kind of game. I like the concept of forced cooperation.
Maniacal Oct 07, 2007, 01:43 PM Sounds like my kind of game. I like the concept of forced cooperation.
Yeah, there's a few guys who are absolutely killers as the Hidden, like /\nimal Mother, Dr. Drew, and a few others who are good but not at the same level as those two. Anyone who strays from the group is dead. Heck Animal has killedu s all when we stayed in a group (but he had 3 pipe nades so he did a lto fo damage with those sicne we eneded up camping in our spawn a few time).
steviejay Oct 08, 2007, 01:04 PM I FINALLY upgraded my computer, sexy rig, could FINALLY play MTW2 and Civ4 without any form of lag then, a week into getting into Civ4 again my comp crashes, and can't seem to find the hard drives anymore (despite them appearing in BIOS) so I'm..... slightly annoyed.
Not playing anything at the moment, apart from various Arcade games on my Xbox (Sonic, Echo the Dolphin, Double Dragon etc.)
**FINALLY put in caps to signify just HOW LONG it's been**
Kan' Sharuminar Oct 08, 2007, 01:37 PM That's exceptionally unlucky. Hope you can get it sorted :)
jafink Oct 08, 2007, 01:37 PM I started playing Lord of the Rings: The Third Age again on my PS2. I am about 80% through the game.
Izipo Oct 08, 2007, 01:58 PM Playing Bts ;) I want to try out the new patch (that needs a patch...)
GoodEnoughForMe Oct 08, 2007, 03:07 PM Picked up C&C: The First Decade. Play that on my quick breaks from WoW.
jafink Oct 08, 2007, 03:58 PM I started playing Civ 4 again.
Maniacal Oct 09, 2007, 12:20 AM DarthMod for Medieval 2 is sweet.
steviejay Oct 09, 2007, 01:16 PM Whats DarthMod?
Maniacal Oct 09, 2007, 03:44 PM It's am assive change to the AI, by a modder called DarthVader. The RTW one has a few new campaign maps as well as more historical battles. The M2 one only has the one map (40 new provinces I think) and a harder version (AI get's some mroe money in the harder campaign) I think. They really do improve the AI and also fix some things that happen with your troops, like how I've often experianced a unit only sending a few troops charging a head while the rest slwoly advance or spread out when in melee, that is greatly reduced/gone.
