Catherine asks me to join her war against Pacal. To please her i say yes, at once i hear the trumpets: "You have declared war on Catherine. You have declared war on Pacal".
Pacal was vasselised by Cathy but this is crazy.

While I sure hope that Firaxis knows a way how to fix this it is an old issue that has been in the game since its original relase (of Vanilla that is ;)):
Contacts get queued during the inter turn and if anything happens after that that changes the situation they still stay there.
In this case during interurn Catherine decided to ask you for help and later during interturn Pacal capitulated to her. Catherine's contact stayed queued for your turn though. That is also the reason why in a lot of games you'll see an AI asking you to join a war only to see a declaration of peace between the two warring AIs just after you accept - I even got a "you declared war on a friend" modifier this way once :crazyeye:

Yes ... btw, I wonder whether this queueing is exploitable for the Apostolic Palace, because there's a one-turn lag between the voting and the final decision. For example:
Let's say that a vote comes up to stop trading with nation A. The resolution succeeds. Let's say there is also nation B who trades a lot with A, but isn't member of the Apostolic Palace. Now ... if you have a missionary waiting in one of B's cities, can you time the religion spread so that you force B to accept the resolution, while not giving him a possibility to vote on it or defy it?

This is easy to fix. Thanks for the save.

I have used a version of this myself, when a vote comes up to stop trading I cancel my trades, so I don't get the 'You stopped trading' penalty, and then I can start trading again the next turn.
